Well turned into a tight one in the end, despite numerous mistakes from both players I think you will agree if you watch the replay that Nuffle was in a maniacal mood for this one. Dishing out 1's and Skulls punishment to both teams, but especially to coach Bartgoons poor BrisVegan Skinks. His challenge seemed to be.. fail a dodge and dont expect to walk away from it. His first trick for the game was the pouring rain which stayed for the duration of the match and gave the "Echoes" a significant advantage in the ballhandling stakes. What followed was a palmed coin and a bout of Morleys Revenge to the BrisVegans Crappest Saurus (no offense Caboolture).

And it started with a blitz... aargh thought coach Anu. But it was not all doom and gloom, some slick play from the agile elves brushed aside or evaded their markers, Karesh Var connecting on a long spiral to Touchstone who sped upfield, only to fall flat on his face in the outfield with not a soul near him.. luckily not stunning himself. Bartgoon proceeded to set up some tackle zones on the "Echoes" players before eventually sending a lone skink to go pick up the ball. Alas for him, Nuffle was to strike early. His Strong Blocking Skink Balmoral failing his dodge and fracturing his leg beyond the recuperative powers of the team Apothecary. The "Echoes" of course wasted their 2nd and final reroll for the half with some senseless, ineffectual blocking, but eventually common sense prevailed and Touchstone found his feet, scooped up the pill and went in for the opening TD of the game. The BrisVegans consolidated their kickoff reception well.. putting tackle zones on the elves and latching onto the ball in greasy conditions. The "Echoes" responded... Judon KO'ing Woodridge who it turns out spent most of the game in the box. Togen and Karesh Var heading upfield to pressure the Skinks. The next play was less smooth, most of what coach Bart attempted came off, however in hindsight he did seem to leave his ball carrier a bit exposed. Suryet took care of the Skink, Togen dodged into the endzone, and Karesh Var produced a customary play, picking up the ball in midfield, and launching an effortless bomb half the length of the field (Securing him the Silver Arrow in the process) for Togen to touchdown. Back trudged the BrisVegans for another go. This time the ball carrier was surrounded, with the dangerous "Var" left face down on the field. The first misclick followed.. luckliy not costing me.. however the "Echoes" were unable to free up the ball... methinks stripball be in order soon. With so much of the field still to make up, despite the blistering speed of the Skinks a passing play was called apon but in the wet conditions, Morningside grassed the well weighted pass with the line wide open. What followed was a general scramble for the ball, Anwar smashing the hand of another of the "Vegans" strong skink battery (What are those guys putting in the Brisbane River?). Eventually the ball found its way into the hands of the third and final roided up Skink Annerly. But two failed blocks by teamates trying to make space robbed him of his run to the line. 2-0 Echoes at Half time.

2nd Half started with a blitz from the "Echoes". A few silly options and the obligatory loss of reroll, but atleast Karesh Var was under the ball, and with ease did he catch the kickoff with some protection around him. A misclick let Bart down on his Blitz action, and Karesh Var burst upfield on a brave yet ultimately foolish solo run to the line. It is here that the tide turned back the other way, Touchstone having his Jaw broken by Fortitude, while Annerly was able to Badly Hurt "Var" and pick up the fumbled ball. After this taste of success.. Nuffle snatched it all back, Balmoral failing a dodge and this time making a 'Pro Hart' on the pitch. Doubleskulls from our rookie Wardancer Cation failed to entice the ball from Annerly's hands and he was away.... Despite leaving himself open on a few occasions standing solo amongst a loose cage some 4-5 squares away from him, the little blighter shrugged off a weak "Echoes" blitz and ultimately scampered in for the reply TD. Game on. 8 elves up against 9 lizards. A bad kick gave us a touchback and we chased a skill roll rather than a safer ball carrier, sending Veris running up field all on his lonesome, before another Doubleskull from Cation thwarted any plans of offering Veris some protection. He was duelly bitch slapped, however a miscalculation by Bart.. firstly a misclick and then an oversight of what turn we were in meant he was denied any potential scorers within range, and the game essentially petered out. Suryet getting stuck into Hawthorns groin and straining it. Final Score.... Echoes 2.... BrisVegans 1.

This game wrapped up another rollercoaster season for the "Echoes", again finishing with 4 wins and 3 losses. It enabled us to snare 3rd spot, a flattering position as we were never really in it. But proof that after some restructuring in the SWL last season we did deserve our elevation to the conferences. 4 MVPs saw Anwar relegate our star Karesh Var to bridesmaid for the clubs best and fairest for the second year running. However fingers are crossed for a few Silver Twahnlows and hopefully representation in the Conference Pro-Bowl Team. A few more assistant coaches this season.. while the loss of the promising Boru still grates. A good building season. We will only be better for the run next season, though the roster could sill use some more padding. Especially since Togen grabbed a movement increase post game.. and will surely need the protection only a reserves bench can provide.

Good Game Bartgoon. I dont think we were both on our games... so it was good it was still a close one. See ya next season.

Twahnlows:

3 Votes to #4 Fortitude - This proud Saurii did his team proud. He gets the 3 votes just in front of Annerly on behalf of all his Block, Tackle, Break Tackle Buddies. Tackle skill really hampered my plans today, eating through my rerolls and shutting down many potential plays. He was the best of them.

2 Votes to #1 Annerly - Probably deserves the 3 Votes but those Tacklers really thwarted me. Brilliant solo play to badly hurt the ball carrier Karesh Var 2 squares from the endzone before carting the pill the length of the field for an excellent TD.

1 Vote to #5 Springhill - Look the others didnt do too much. He was another of the tackle Saurii, and threw the most blocks in the match so he was busy.

If you have the flu', my suggestion is that you caffinate the hell out of yourself so you get some sort of awareness going so you don't contiually make noob mistakes.

Some would say Nuffle was harsh, I say my brain was empty and Nuffle just responded in kind.

Twahnlows:
3 points: Suryet - Best hit, Good blocking.
2 points: Anwar - Good bash.
1 point: Ra-hel - ow!
