“This match sucked - for both of us. For him because his prize Lion Warrior (Ag 5, Leap) died on an attempt to stop my ballcarrier (1d block, skull, and there he went). For me because I lost (obviously) and, even worse, because I didn't win a single gold piece. I didn't mourn for Valmariel's death too much before the end of the game (I wanted to retire him anyway because of his niggling injury), but now I lack the money to sign a new Dragon Warrior.

In the first half, I had some really bad luck. Or my opponent had good luck. I'd say both. He broke up one of my drives by knocking down my Lineelf with Blodge and then rolling a pow on a 1d block against my ballcarrier (his player didn't even have Block). On the other side, when I took a 1d block on his catcher, it was a skull, and he scored. And after Thalion blitzed one of his players with the ball deep in his own half, caught the scattering ball and dodged past another opponent in a really superb way, he failed the one GFI left for him to get into the end zone. :(

In the second half, I turned to a more bashy kind of play, and it paid off. I badly hurt one of his players and caused a SI on another. And then I scored by handing the ball to my thrower, who lobbed it into the endzone where Lamion caught it.

Unfortunately, he scored a fourth touchdown by throwing a long bomb into my endzone with a Dragon Warrior. After that, I got another TD when his Lion killed himself. Lamion got the CAS for that action, both TD's and the (well deserved) MVP award, which earned him two skills immediately. My new Phoenix Warrior, Altaron, also did very well, gettiing four completions in his first match. Thalion further established his reputation as the most dangerous player on the roster with his two casualties. But just when I thought the match hadn't been so bad after all, the winnings roll was a 1, which gave me - nothing...”
