Wilma Rootcake reporting for the Halfling's Luncheon Journal.

The Amazing Chefs finally garnered their first win today, against the Knights of Naggarroth, a team of wily Dark elves. There was much rejoicing by the halfling players, Nogo Quicktoe had the following to say - "This is a great win! Those dark elves fought hard and played a good game, but we persevered and managed to come through. I'm just glad we got the win, so now Coach is going to feed us properly again!"

Coach Mighti Potluck had been witholding the team's normal rations of 7 meals per day down to a measly four until they managed to score a touchdown, but the team managed to not just score a touchdown, but win the match with a daring play by emerging star treeman blocker Steelroot and Ztin Lionwrath.

In the closing minutes of the match, it appeared the game would be a hardfought tie. Ztin Lionwrath had the ball at the line of scrimmage, and he looked to be too far away to score a touchdown in time, but in a daring move Coach Potluck called for the infamous Halfling Bomb play. The halfling faithfuls in the crowd gasped as Steelroot moved into position and prepared to hurl Ztin towards the center of the field. In the Chef's last match against the Katteknuser's Band, a similar play was drawn up, which ended in disaster when the other treeman blocker Spiritleaf botched the throw and hurled halfling kicker Luco Herbsniffer into the crowd...he was summarily seriously injured by the fans. However things would be different this time, in a stroke of luck Ztin landed Steelroot's mighty throw and rushed for the last minute touchdown.

Ztin said the following after the game - "I give the credit to Steelroot for that one, he put me in a great position to score, that tree has nerves of steel i tell ya. After what happened to Luco last game, we were a little hesitant to try that play, but Coach insisted on it. Its great to score the winning touchdown, and we have to use this game as momentum to turn the season around. I think the guys are feeling more confident now. But to be fair, we had luck in our favor since the Knights could only field 9 players in the second half."

Luco Herbsniffer (who sat out the game injured) - "It was a great play, I just wish I could of been out there. Hopefully i'll be able to join the guys for the next game. I don't blame Spiritleaf for the injury last game, thats just how it goes sometimes. We don't practice the Halfling Bomb play really...its too risky, but now that we've seen it work, we know that Coach is right, we need it to win games."

Amazingly, no players in the match from either team were injured seriously enough to miss games, a first for the Chefs. However, in two tense moments, a player for both teams came quite close to death, but with timely intervention from the team's respective Apothecaries the players were miraculously healed without major injuries.

Wilma Rootcake signing off, keep cheering for those Chefs!
