“(The luck percentage is from a reload on turn 5 or 6 of the second half)
This was a brutally tough game. The All -Stars have a vicious line up and some great ball handling behind it. KidCrestHill played a tough, yet very civil and friendly game and I really appreciated the match.
Things were looking grim when I started the game trying to push a CW into my GR to set up the score. The Rat Ogre stupidly got his first and just about only POW of the game on the one play where I wanted nothing but ->. This left him more than a little exposed and the All Stars' ogre was quick to take advantage of it and trap him bad. I lost a few turns that way and the Orc Blitzer scored soon after that.
I received and gave the ball to my RO on a touchback. He needed block and I was hoping for a lucky break to blitz him through to the endzone. Sure enough, I got it when the Mino ended up on my Rat Ogre in a WA shootout. One unlucky roll and I was free to blitz to freedom (I had to crowd push a Marauder, but no harm was done) and scoreto end the half.
The second half opened and the Allstars quickly scored. I set up a push again (just for the fun of it) and it actually worked. That left the score 2-2 with about 5 turns left.
KidCrestHill's drive was stalled and he made a long pass out to his GR on the top side. I managed to swamp him and blitz with a few GRs of my own and I recovered the ball near my endzone with nothing but an Ogre and a downed Runner near my 3 GRs. I thought I had it made until I realized he;d gotten me into another WA trap at the other side of the field. A 1 die block into a 2 die against, rookie RO on rookie Troll. A ballsy play, but it worked out and he managed to sneak his nice Norse thrower into the mix as well. Fortunately for me, his Ogre boneheaded instead of blitzing and I got a chance to get out of it.
Now here's where it got good. I managed to blitz away from the thrower and GR on a 1 die block and dodge away to run downfield with 2 gfis. A second GR dodged away to set up a screen and yet another GR dodged through 3 tz to run up and set up a second point on the screen. Incredibly lucky play and how that 78% got there.
A marauder or two tried to set up a blitz on the ball carrier, but the blodger was just a litttle too slippery. Dodged away on turn 8 to score and win a very close match.
Thanks again for the game, KidCrestHill. I count myself incredibly fortunate to have even kept close, much came up with a lucky victory. Any time you want a rematch, I'd be thrilled.”
