“Warpstone Open Quarterfinal

Another match for da Gitz as the underdog. The QWuakers came to the arena with a wizard, and da Gitz' treasury had been emptied in previous matches. But da Gitz would prove their special relationship with Nuffle once again...

The fans opened the game by having a BBQ with the Referee (apparently, he was tasty). Da Gitz coach smiled to himself as both QWuakers' DPs were killed in the first turns of first half, one at the hands of Dirty Thrower Thraka and the other on a failed dodge. As much as the DPs tried however, they could not send any more CD players to the casualty box.

The QWuakers received first and scored after 5 turns, fumbling a bit with the ball on the way. The CD got into trouble because of the failed DP dodge, but Chaos Dwarf Casey saved the situation when he caught a bouncing ball and blitzed his way in for the TD. Da Gitz replied in the usual fashion with a quick (and lucky) TD by Goblin Minsy. 1-1 halftime.

Da Gitz took their time in 2nd half, facing a perfect defense that prevented the quick move forward. Some unlucky blocks from the CD allowed the Orcs to move the ball down into the right widezone with most of the QWuakers players on the other side or stuck in the LOS brawl. But Blitzer Nozdrag failed to catch the hand-off for the score from Minsy , and the CD could pop the ball. They failed to recover it for themselves however, and da Gitz could bring in reinforcements. Nozdrag caught the ball the 2nd time, and dodged in for 2-1 with 3 turns left on the clock.

At this point, the fans decided to intervene again, and hurled a rock at Bull Centaur Dag. The QWuakers then had some terrible block dice (quadruple skulls), leaving them with a very slim chance to score. They tried their best, but Bull Centaur Flagg failed the pass to bring the ball upfield. Da Glitz Gitz win!

Good game Splatter, sorry about the uneven luck. Just hope that I can make a dent in the Deepwood Junkies next round...”
