“First ever loss in ranked vs a dwarf team.

So what went wrong?

Started out good enough, the dorfs rolling mostly push-backs and not doing any damage. I slowed down their cage mid-field, but got 2 players BH after failing dodges. Then in the turn I finally got into position to blitz the ball 2d I failed the 2+ assist dodge with reroll. The dwarf made a run for it, and all we could do was to put the pressure on him, leaving us 3 turns to score after his TD.

Sweltering heat took out 2 humans - both the best blitzers, my only guard left, and 3 dorfs, leaving 8 humans and 10 dorfs.
My run got bogged down and when dodgeing for an opening blitz I fell over once more. Rerolls availed little with dodgeing today.

Halftime 0-1, and down to 10 players, no dorfs gone. Weather turned nice.

Moved much of my team as deep as they could, while fouling the dorf DP, with no effect (only foul this game for either of us). I wasn't in any good position to score and moved around some more, scoring my only cas, saved. The BH started showing up and many KO as well, my team diminshing by the second. I moved several players into scoring positions, and it was Fried that we went for, needing a 2+(4+)3+3+2+ to score, but the pass was thrown wide by the rookie thrower. Then the dorfs got unlucky, leaving me a chance to get at the ball! My catcher ran over and withstood the blitzer coming at him, all thanks to dodge. We scored an unliely 1-1, with 3 turns left for the dwarves.

6 players to field, no blitzers. Blitz! My catcher runs up and catches the kick-off! He is blitzed by slayer, who gets me down, with a good bounce for dwarves. But they fail to pick up! I set up a blitz to bounce the ball, but first fail a 2+ dodge for assist, using up my reroll and then rolling doubleskulls on the blitz! The dorfs have an almost free run, but roll doubleskulls! They use their last reroll. They don't move their blitzer into scoring position and make a handoff and 2 gfi, a 1 on either producing a draw, but it didn't happen. My players were all down, with slim chance of stopping the dorf. Funny enough my lino made the 4+3+ dodge to get there, only to snakeye the gfi.

Tense. The dwarves played solidly most of the time.
Needed more players today.”
