A fun game against a fun coach. Game coulda gone either way until the last few turns.

Handicaps were:

Not a bad draw with 3 of my players out.

The Samurais started in offence and sent a couple of players deep. The Falcons got a one dice blitz on the ball carrier but got a push (RR used on the 2+ Leap) and the Samurai managed to score in 4? turns.

The Falcons found it hard to get through but eventually managed to advance deep into the corner with the ball. This is where the disconnection problems got worse. I did a blitz, caused a BH on my opponent's Witch and scored, only to disconnect.

First reload, I caused a -MA so we reloaded (as I only did BH). Second reload, I didn't pow her and when I dodged, I caused myself a niggle or something. Eventually we got a reload where I scored and my opponent agreed to bench his witch (treat her as if she was BH).

One turn left to score and I make a mistake with my setup. I was a wuss and only put two Sidesteppers on the line as I only had the Witch left who was a sidestepper and she was AV7. I set up stopping the push on one side but not the other!

My opponent uses his leapers to set up the push of one of his MA8 players but makes an error (lucky for me) and is one square short of a 2 GFI attempt. Phew!

Second half, a disasterous start as I get nowhere with my blocks and try a blitz that gets skull/pow and pow so I try a 3+ dodge (saving RR for the ball handling) and I fail that including the dodge RR (1 in 9 failure). My opponent steals the ball and I roll a lot of crud trying to get it back. I manage to get a one dice blitz on his ball carrier but again, to no avila and he scores on me. Ouch.

2-1 down and he gets a Blitz! He forces some players through and luckily for me he fails his second GFI roll (after using team RR on the first GFI roll) and stuns himself.

I recover the ball and manage to pull off a score after some difficulty due to all the pressure brought to bear by the Blitz.

Score is 2-2 and I get a magical kick that ends up in the end zone. My opponent has a crud round of trying to force his way through (like my first drive of the half) and his only player to get through is stunned on a failed GFI!

I apply the pressure and manage to win the ball and ran the ball to the corner where I waited one turn to secure the win before scoring.

A very fun and tight match. My opponent put me under a lot of pressure and I was sure I was going to lose the game or struggle to draw as my opponent was receiving at 2-2 and there were only 4 turns left for him (and 3 for me). However, he had the bad luck at a critical time allowing me to get great field advantage and secure the win after falling behind on my first drive of the half.

Anyways it was a fun game with spp for both teams, a nice wad of cash and no permanent injuries.

Forgot to say also that AC is one of the most sporting coaches I have ever played. He did not complain once about my flaky connection which dropped out about four times, nor did he complain about the luck when he had some bad rolls come his way. A great sport and I look forward to playing him again sometime.
