The whistle blows, the game is on! Elves receive the ball, but in what appears to be a twist of orcish voodoo (a puffy cloud shaped like four skulls swirled around one of the dark elves for a brief moment) the orcs gain a really fast turnover, and start pushing for the ball, knocking over a few elves in the process! Zazh Fleshhoarder (the MVP of the game, only an interception away from a perfect Larson!) steals the ball and dextrously passes it backwards into safety! Shortly, after an elf fails to dodge away to steal the ball (again apparent orcish voodoo - the blurry image of a snake eying the elf appeared for just a split second) Black Axe has scored and the Vanguard form up their offensive line once more.
On their second attempt, the elves actually do manage to score, but because of yet another distracting cloud of quadruple skulls the services of a wizard was required to make the needed touchdown.
First half ends in 1-1, even though the orcs had a lot of lucky momentum. So far the orcs are completely unharmed, while the elves report two casualties (one death!) and a knocked out player while setting up their defensive line for the coming orcish onslaught of the second half.
Obviously feeling very disturbed by the massive orcish use of illegal voodoo, the Vanguard starts second half by a successful blitz-move! The orcs are completely taken off guard, and even though the orcish thrower manage to scurry back and snatch the ball - he is apparently doesn't have his cool enough to make a simple 1-yard pass to his team mate. The ball is dropped, and the endzone is frightingly near! As expected the elves sneakily steal the ball away for a quick touchdown! The elves are now up 2-1, but there is still plenty of time for the orcs who start their second offensive push (at this point, there are four injured dark elves, and one knocked out). The same thrower who botched the first drive is having a really bad day, and he fails to pick up the ball.
As the elves rush through the orcish lines, the thrower finally manage to pick up the slippery ball, and get into the semi-cover of two team mates. This doesn't stop the Vanguard witch elf one bit, who dodges through the rows of orcs and knocks the ball loose, and the thrower crashes to the ground! Luckily enough for the orcs, the ball isn't picked up by any Vanguarder, but instead Ragrag (the thrower having a really bad day so far) manages to pick up the ball, and because of one last puff of really evil orcish magicks (the blurry image of a glaring snake appearing before one of the elves just as he is about to dodge away from an orc), the orcs manage to get a classical boxplay (or cage) in motion forward over the line of scrimmage.
The drive ends when there are only seconds left on the game clock, with a game saving TD from the abovementioned Ragrag, who made up for all of his previous mistakes by making a magnificent sprint, pushing himself to and beyond the limits of his capability. The orcs were forced to make the odd sprint play because Ort Slavechild couldn't help himself and had to put his steel-enforced boot in the face of witch elf, just a few feet away from where the ref is standing! Ort got sent off and the elves managed to pull off a very nice defensive play, that in turn forced the risky running play mentioned before.
This dirty move apparently angred the ref a lot, because as the two teams line up for the near-pointless kickoff before overtime sets in, the ref orders the game clock to be turned back - he claims for injury time! Indeed, at this point the elves have suffered seven injuries, and only six elves remain on the pitch, so it was hard to argue that call of the ref...
This move by the ref caught the orcs off guard, and only by a few heroic moves and the help of a wizard, the orcs manage to ward off a game-winning touchdown and go into overtime... While doing so, they injure yet another elf! The Vanguard of the Black Ark has no more than FIVE players to line up for the overtime, in which they are receiving. From that point on it's not a very exciting game, the orcs succeed in stealing the ball and scoring.. and scoring... and scoring... making the final result 5-2.
During the entire semi final game, there was a lot of evil trickery from the orcs, lots of bad voodoo all over the poor elven players. Even though this was the case, the Vanguard almost pulled off a win, thanks to their excellent coach. The game should be considered a tactical win for the Vanguard, who would probably have made it to the finals if their players had had a better day when trying to block, dodge and do other basic Blood Bowl things on the pitch.
The coach of Black Axe would like to salute Snorri for being an excellent coach and perfect gentleman at the same time. During the entire game, there was no foul language or bad remarks coming from the elven bench - certainly an impressive display of restraint considering the workings of Nuffle.”
