I am starting to sound like a real whiner now.

I was again cursed with bad luck this game. After starting in offence, I started the game by rolling a double skulls on my second block, rerolled to double skulls.

The first of 5? double skull rolls in the first 6 turns.

I lost the ball, recovered it, and managed to get it downfield quite safely despite all the double skulls I rolled to continually put me on the backfoot. Then to score I need a GFI and of course I roll the obligatory 1. This is after my entire turn 6 or 7 had consisted of rolling a 1 and falling over.

Second half, my opponent sends one player deep with the ball, I easily account for him and recover the ball. His turn, blitzes my ball carrier two dice my choice and of course rolls double pows. Give me a f#cken break. 1/18 chance of losing the ball and he gets it. My turn, I try to pick up the ball with sure hands to bring it into a safe position. 3+ rerolled failed. My opponent's turn, 3+ to pick up the ball in a TZ and he makes it and I am down 0-1 instead of probably winning 1-0. I can't make a 3+ with reroll and he gets a double pow on 2 dice my choice etc. For f#cks's sake.

Was a tight struggle after this, with a dropped pass scattering along the LOS and the Expos swarming to try and attack the ball. Eventually I got the ball into a cage and was able to score on turn 7.
-------------
A most unfun game. With so many double skulls and 1s rolled in the first half I could not believe my luck rating was over 50% at the end of the game.

This continued in the second half where I dropped 2+ catches, failed sure hands pick ups on more than one occasion. Then my opponent gets a 7+ and a 8+ roll (well 6s).

FUMBBL has suddenly become a very unfun place and I have become a sour whiner. I hate this game.

Addendum. Dude, I never ran you down in my report. Not once did I say your play was poor.

What I was whining about was how such as your calculated 20% risk pays off, but my 2 dice blocks with 97% success rate (ie not fall over myself) failed several times, and my 3+ rolls to pick up the ball with rerolls failed too. Rarely did I attempt any plays that you could really call risky.

The tackler on your skink definately had Tackle. He had 4 AG and did the 2+ dodge to blitz you.

If you watch the replay, you will see I did very few one dice blocks, but I can't be bothered watching to confirm or deny.

My whining is to do with having more bad luck against me in the last 5 out of 6 games than good. Whilst the luck in this particular game wasn't tragic, the cumulative effect of playing several games where the dice go against you made this worse than what it was.

I told you a few times during the game that I was having a bad run of luck. If you choose to take exception to me having a whine in general and take it personally, well that is your choice as again I have said nothing negative about your play nor your play style, only that you had some very good breaks (calculated risk or not) and I had a lot of bad ones.

Good luck with your team.

I won't deny that I was lucky to get a draw here. Malthor's luck in the first half was almost as bad he described (I think there were 4 double skulls [to my 1]), and his sure hands throwers were useless all game.

But I take a little bit of issue with the tendency of many of the highly ranked coaches to run down their opponents when they don't win.

Yes, I did send my sprint skink deep with the ball in the second half.. having to reroll a GFI meant he wasn't as deep as I wanted, and he did get powed on the one chance there was to blitz him (5 in 9 chance to knock him down.. pretty sure the tackler didn't blitz?). It was a risk, and it didn't pay off.

Yes, I did knock the ball loose on a two-dice against blitz. I had a RR to use... the chances of knocking the ball loose were actually better than 20% with the reroll. (1/9 + (8/9)*(1/9)) Another risk, and this one did pay off. It was the only two dice against block I threw all game. I maybe threw 2 or 3 one-die blocks all game.. certainly many fewer than my opponent.

Yes, I did roll 6s on some 7+ and 8+ rolls. They were dodges with Stand Firm sauruses, so no risk to me.

Anyway, I knew I was playing a superior coach, so I took a few calculated risks. Malthor certainly had worse luck overall, but had some good breaks too. My feeling was that every time he needed to knock down a Stand Firm saurus to clear a path, he did (1 in 4 chance to fail those, none of my SF have block yet.)

I wouldn't have drawn the match without some luck, but it could have been a lot worse.
