“A topsy turvery game that could have gone both ways.
The Squeakers were at an early disadvantage when the Draw and Blood made all their niggling rolls, but the Squeakers best defensive player and match winner Thanquol (Horns Dauntless Gutter Runner) pulled up sore before the match.
The Squeakers started in offence but were blitzed! The Draw and Blood swarmed towards where the ball was coming down but failed to catch it.
Luckily for the Squeakers, Snitch Silvertongue saved the day by sprinting towards the ball (2 x GFI), and picking it up despite three Dark Elf players near the ball (Sure Hands and Big Hand) and then threw a quick pass (range 7 thanks to Strong Arm, Pass, Nerves of Steel and Accurate!) down the line of scrimmage to effect a score shortly afterwards.
The Draw and Blood fouled Snitch Silvertongue (no harm) which enraged his team mates who combined to foul one of the opposing Witch Elves, knocking her out, and she stayed knocked out for most of the game!
The Draw and Blood scored a reply quickly then had some luck when the Squeakers dropped an easy catch near the line of scrimmage. This left the Skaven players out of position and a wild animal trap saw the scores tied at 1-1 at the end of the first half (I had Block and Bro, so the chance of the WA trap working was less than 1/3... if I had made the catch the previous turn, the WA trap still wouldn't have stopped me from scoring, oh well hehehe).
In the second half, both teams scored quickly, leaving the Draw and Blood with just under a third of the game to take the lead again (but I would have last turn and I had a one turner, though he has never been used to score a one turn TD before).
The Draw and Blood protected the ball, and were set to score late in the second half, but went for a foul on a fallen Gutter Runner (the 1 turner) but tripped doing so!
The Squeakers then managed to steal the ball from the would be scorer and throw a TD pass over the head of a would be interceptor who tried to pass block (I checked every player for Pass Block except that guy who I could have surrounded LOL) to steal a last second win.
------------
A very tight game with topsy turvy luck for both of us.
I thought I was gone for all money when my opponent got the blitz to start the match, however, his 1 to catch the ball gave me a very good chance to recover thanks to Snitch Silvertongue being nearby. That Thrower can be a match saver!
With 1 TD apiece, I was then rather unlucky to fail to score a second in the first half, dropping a 2+ catch near the line of scrimmage, and then on the next turn, my Rat Ogre rolling a skull on two dice and failing his Pro roll.
Second half there was again a mix of good and bad luck for both of us. I wanted to try and win so I scored quicky after my opponent scored, and hoped to steal the ball off him.
Even if he scored, I had a chance to score a turn 8 TD thanks to my 11 MA GR, bearing in mind however, that he has never scored a 1 turn TD before (I consider it cheap usually).
However, my opponent threw away the game by going for the foul on and tripping (maybe he failed the reroll too, I can't recall) and giving me a chance to blitz his ball carrier with two dice and then throw a TD pass if I avoided the 5+ intercept.
I can understand him wanting to foul the one turner on his turn 8 to try and get a KO or worse, but there was also the risk of getting sent off and not getting the TD then either.
So I was lucky to steal the win on turn 8, but then I was unlucky not to be 1 TD up at the end of half time so all up, I think it was pretty even though my opponent will probably dispute this hehehe.
Anyway, it was a fun tight match despite the couple of fouls and piling on attacks on my poor Gutter Runners and star Thrower hehehe. ”
