What a funny game. Started with the Falcons getting a lucky blitz. The Falcons stole the ball and screened it, before setting up a score to take a 1-0 advantage.
The Cats lined up again, and found themselves under some heavy defensive pressure. The Falcons managed to put two or three tackle zones (incluing a Diving Tackler) on the Cats ball carrier as they tried to effect the turnover.
A block killed Hurkon Venomspite and due to my sleep deprivation, I did not use my apothecary and there went a Str4 Blodge Sidestep player! I thought he was the guy wth -MA and a Niggle who actually missed the game with a Virus heh. Serves me right for playing this game too much.
The Cats were forced to do a hand off, but the Falcons knocked the ball free again. The Cats then had some bad luck when they failed to pick up the ball (snakes maybe?) and it lay on the floor but in two of their Tackle Zones. The Falcons pushed one tackle zone away, then burnt a reroll to push away the second. They then made a 2+ pick up and 2+ catch and ran deep to secure a 2-0 lead with only 2 turns left in the first half.
The Cats on offencet, pushed two players deep on one wing, but brought the ball up into Blitz distance. I took the most conservative route (I coulda done two 3+ dodges to get two dice) and failed a GFI on the blitz burning a reroll. That was a shame as I had 50% knockdown chance, and an AG5 Leaper to jump over, pick up the ball and throw it deep.
As luck would have it, Overdose went for all his blocks and soon netted a quad skulls and no score!
Second half, the Falcons were in offence, but were getting their players injured and KOd all over the place. They pulled the ball back, but then snaked a dodge early in the turn allowing the Cats to blitz the Falcons ball carrier, steal the ball and score. However, over half of the game clock for the final period had expired whilst the Falcons tried vainly to probe for a possible TD. One option did present several times, but it was deemed too risky -> dodge to the endzone (eg with Witch vs tackle) and Thrower to double GFI to get to the LOS and then do a 3+ long bomb (with reroll).
Anyways, certainly bad luck for the Falcons to concede a TD there, but equally bad luck for the Cats to concede a TD at 0-1 down.
With 3 turns left and only 8 or 9 players, the Falcons did what they could to set up a score. A snakes roll on a dodge put them under extreme pressure and they had to pass the ball off to a blodger on the side to minimise the turnover chance.
The Cats did steal the ball but then left it in a spot where the Falcons were able to knock it loose with a 3+ dodge, and a 2+ dodge and GFI. The ball spilt free, and the Falcons used up a pair of ones on a double skulls block that was rerolled. With no rerolls left, the Falcons thrower made his dodge, pick up and 2+ long pass to a waiting lineman who ran in the 3-1 score.

Well what a game, lots of crappy luck for both of us with snakes/skulls at bad times that led to either turnover scores or offensive stops.
The handicaps certainly made me the underdog at the start (and my opponent said this himself) and I was helped somewhat by a couple of his moves (eg he followed up with 2 turns left on a block to jam up the LOS and limit his potential scorers, he did a one dice block on me he thought was a two dicer, and he also let me have a chance to steal the ball on the critical last turn.
Not saying he played bad, but I think it is fair to say that OverDose has played much better against me in the past. Then again, 80K and some SPP in preparation for the UI was not a bad outcome for his team. I would happily have lost that game if only I had not lost a player heh. ”
