Valdrek niggled and the Falcons kicker was MNG, the Samurais had one lineman niggle
----------------------
Well it was a fun match marked by a couple of lucky runs.
The Falcons scored after 3 turns and then had a Blitz. However, greed was the key here, and the Falcons tried to force their way through on one side vs a Str4 player and a push was required. Skull/Pow came up which was rerolled into a skull and my Blitzer became SI MNG!
The Samurais then blocked the Lineman who had lent an assist and he too was seriously injured (-AG) and the Falcons were down two players and a RR all of a sudden.
Soon game another SI MNG. The Samurais scored to level the match and the Falcons with no rerolls tried to setup a go ahead TD. The Samurais made a mistake and did not send a player to pressure the Falcons quarterback and they were able to take their time and set up a possible score.
With wet muddy conditions, the Falcons had two possible scorers near the end of the half. A Str4 Blitzer who had 71 SPP, and an AG5 Lino who was in a tackle zone. Both needed a 3+ catch and a 2+ roll (Bonehead or dodge). The Falcons sent the blitzer elsewhere to set up a block, then failed the 2+ dodge after making the catch. All due to not wanting to get the 71 SPP guy too close to 75 and doing extra blocks elswhere and using up the good rolls heh.
Then again, I did not really want the 49 spp AG5 Lino to score either... lol
Second half, both teams traded TDs and it was 2-2.
At 2-2, the Samurai caught a lucky break - Injury Time. The Falcons would only have two turns left in the game, so a score by the Samurais here would only give them one turn to tie the match.
The Samurais had some difficulty pushing through and then tried to cage the ball down one side, only the last player didn't make it to close the cage! The Falcons had a Str4 Block Tackle Lino to steal the ball, 2x 2+ dodges (with dodge reroll) and then two GFI and he was onto the Witch Elf with the ball. Four dice failed to yield a Pow or Dodge/Pow.
The Samurais Witch was then able to dodge and GFI to take the lead.
The Falcons set up to try a one turn chain pushback TD. It looked good, with the Samurai leaving a Blodger on one corner and the Falcons ready to send a Witch Elf without Tackle to do the blitz and get a two square push straight away (needing Push, or Dodge/Pows).
However, the Samurais got a blitz and injured the Falcons witch and caught the ball ending any hope of a draw.
---------------------
Was a fun match against a fun sporting coach.
The Falcons were penalised heavily when I went for a one dice blitz and got seriously injured, and then lost another player. My opponent however got a one dice Pow on one of his one dicers, and a second mistaken one netted a push.
The cruel SI (where were the BHs???) and the Bltiz at the final turn were the other factors that pushed the game just beyond my reach.
This was supposed to be a recovery match to get the kicker back, instead, 3 new players are missing the next game, and one has a permanent injury lol. Javabowl is a funny game :).
Anyways, I wish my opponent luck and look forward to playing him again in the future.”
