“The Woodland Dash took to the pitch for the first time as they got trounced by some goblins in their first step on the road to the Blitz Invitational Championships.
Coach Oblitzamanger was hesistant about this team. He said he had never coached Wood Elves before, but would give them a chance because of their agility and speed.
These traits paid off for the team as they scored one touchdowns in three turns, and the other in two during a freak blizzard that came and went. But when you only take 5 turns to score, you are defending for 11, which meant that the gobbos had plenty of chance to score, and they did score.
The Dash recieved first and made a cage around their potential ballcarrier. The gobbos didn't know what to do, so they blitzed the passer who got away and made a short pass to a corner guard, who was just too far away to score without going for it. So the other members of the cage protected him until the next turn and Denfascus became the first member of the team to score a touchdown. Unfortunately, the Wicked Folk sent three players to the KOed box during those three turns. Only two came back.
So, the woodies, on player short, defended the best they could, but a quick rush play through the center of the field which was undermanned not only by bad positioning, but because the team was short players as more were sent to the KOed box, quickly evend the score.
The Dash set up with four turns left to score in the first half when a freak blizzard came out of nowhere. Despite the poor conditions, Orkanhime, the team's only positional player, a Wardancer, got the ball behind the enemies lines and had a loose cage form around him. However, the Goblins were easily able to pierce the line and although they didn't manage to knock the Wardancer down, they did manage to put many tackle zones on him. However, Orkanhime used his incredible Wardancing skills that he had trained for his whole life to leap over the wall of greenskins, dodge once, and score the team's second and last touchdown of the match.
The Wicked Folk then tried to even it up, but were hampered by the force of the woodies' attack, and by their own trolls being really stupid. The first half ended 2 - 1.
Starting the second half without their Wardancer, who was fouled, and two other linelves, one badly hurt and one also KOed, the Dash set up for what looked like would be a grusesome half. And it was, as the first block of the that half resulted in the death of the loyal Trane. It was sad that his life and career ended so early, as his youth would be missed sorely.
The Goblins got the ball easily and fromed a cage too far out of reach for most of the Dash players. The sporting coach tassel could've stalled, but he chose not to and it paid off for his side. They scored in three turns when Denfascus failed a one dice block on the ballcarrier.
The last drive of the game was lucky and unlucky for both sides. The kick was brilliant, as it landed on the line of scrimage in two tackle zones, one belonging to a troll. The plucky Likenbrap managed to doge from another troll, pick up the ball, but then failed his last and safety ensuring dodge roll, ending the turn. The Goblins responded with vigor as they threw all the bodies they had into getting that ball. They began a mid-pitch brall against a team that already was five players down. The intended ballcarrier fumbled the ball and it bounced to another albeit exposed goblin.
The Dash responded well after this too. They knocked out the unlucky ballcarrier and put their bodies into the way of the ball. However, when Orkanhime failed another leap, they cleared the area of elves and ran back under the protection of a troll with the ball. But then, Nuffle gave the elves a chance when the same troll who was protecting the goblin, supposedly out of reach of any wood elf, chose to knock himself down along with a linelf instead of pushing it back, which did stun the linelf indeed, however left the goblin ballcarrier exposed.
Somehow, Orkanhime stood up, leapt into two tackle zones, and took down the ballcarrier, stunning it. He then went for it and managed to pick up the ball and run a few paces towards the end zone. The goblins managed to push him around, but he stayed on his feet and prepared for the next leap. However, this one, not into any tackle zones, failed and Orkanhime stunned himself.
After this, the game was over. A quick throw team mate play gave the goblins another score and the lead, which won them the match. The Woodies were unable to score in the last two turns and thus lost their first match too the wicked gobbos.
Coach Oblitzamanger, who suffered another loss to coach tassel, was pleased that the crowd enjoyed the game and that the winnings were decent. He would like to thank coach tassel for the game and wish him good luck with his team, although he stated for the press that coach tassel was good enough that he doesn't need it. he wanted to let coach tassel know that there were no bad feelings for the fouls and the death. As he said to us after the match, "It's all part of the game."”
