“The Greenfield Crush took ot the pitch again against a team they should've and could've beaten any day. The TR/TS difference was big enough to give them a huge edge and the mere fact that Orcs are fairly strong and halflings are weak put this game in the bag for the Crush.
The handicap was Morley's Revenge which affected Ogrand the Blitzer, Jurtive the Catching Goblin, and Lintel a Black Orc Blocker. All three were out due to the handicap for the first drive.
This is the second match in a row where the Crush have played in poor weather conditions, but this time, instead of sweltering heat, they played in a blizzard the entire game. The Crush recieved the ball to start and made a cage around their thrower Fuggap. But instead of scoring the touchdown, the Orcs wanted to block and crowdpush some more, giving the flings enough time to get several bodies in the way. But the treemen made the difference. If they had not taken root, the game would have been totally different. But instead, they did take root and left the cagebreaking to the flings alone. In the end, after the apothecary failed to work for Bomme, Fuggap passed a short pass to Ponky who scored using a re-roll to catch it, avoiding an interception.
The flings didn't get much of an offense together to come back as all three players sufering Morley's revenge came back and stopped the flings dead. At halftime, the score was 1 - 0.
As the ball bounced relatively close to the line of scrimage, the Orcs were able to pounce on it when the flings recieved first in the second half, even with the blitzer and the goblin out again due to Morley's. Fuggap ended up picking it up and, while the treemen were either stuck in the mud or futily blocking Black Orc Blockers, and the other flings were fouling Kimi and niggled him, apoth saved him, he passed it to Ponky who was standing right next to him, so he could get the extra SPP, and Ponky ran it right in as easy as pie. This gave Ponky 6 SPPs from this match, and he would learn Side Step after the game. Score: 2 - 0.
For the last four turns, the Halflings were not concerned with the ball, they wanted revenge! They swarmed the center of the pitch with flings in an attempt to get some blood, but as they were doing this, Fuggap once again ran into the opponent's backfield, picked up the ball, and scored on the last turn. The flings failed to get any more carnage and thus lost the match misrably 3 - 0.
Fuggap who already had 1 SPP before the game, got 2 for the two completions and 3 for the touchdown, giving him an extra skill, accurate. Ponky also got a skill because of Morley's revenge. Otherwise, the other goblin, might have gotten those touchdowns and Ponky would still have not skilled up. Thus in the end, Morley's revenge worked better for the Crush as their rookie players became experienced without the presence of other experienced players.
The game was good for both teams as there was only one injury for the flings and they both got enough money to buy a new player. The fans were fickle however, and the fan factor increased for the flings and not the Orc's. However, they got enough money to buy a troll, so they can't complain.
After the game, we got a statement from coach Oblitzamanger. He said, "I thank coach Corelian for the match and thought he was out-matched, but he challenged me to this game, and so I can't complain. I will gadly play him again sometime and I enjoyed the match, although it must have been hard for him to with his trees standing around all day."
When asked about the match, he said, "My luck was great, although it was mostly blocking. Only one re-roll was used for ballhandling, which was for the catch that Ponky made to score the first touchdown. When you don't need re-rolls for ballhandling, the rest comes easy."
He said about Kimi, the lineorc with the broken ankle, "I was hesitant to use our apothecary on him. His back was damaged and that would mean sure retirement for him with a mng, n, and -ma. But, I wanted numbers for the next match and so held my breath as the last fouls and blocks were ineffective on the Orc Waaagh! armor. I was lucky no one else was hurt, but in the end, it paid off."
The Crush earned a whooping 20 points towards the Blitz Invitational and only have two more games until they play in the Championships.
