A sad end for the Longboat Lads who have now gone back to raping and pillaging with their collective tails between their legs. A double skull on a 2db in the first turn lead to an easy score for the ogres and having lost the kickoff advantage (and as the number of injuries mounted) there was no way back.

RIP Longboat Lads

#1 Grum – Smashed Knee (NI)
After their loss against the Northern Fire, the Oogling Ogres felt they needed more practice against norse teams, so they could learn how to hurt them more. They managed to find a suitable team in one of the harbour taverns in Altdorf - a rowdy bunch of scarred old seadogs called the Longboat Lads.

As the match started in the downpouring rain, the Longboat lads were set up for a spearhead attack against a softpoint in the ogre defense. The attack was lead by the ogre Yggdrasil . He took aim and launched a powerful bodytackle, tripped on his own feet, fell forward and got himself and another ogre stunned.

As this happened, the ball had just bounced of the ground, and Urkhem Pignibbler saw his chance to stop the unrushing norsemen in their tracks: He lumberd forward, grabbed Nastygleb by his waist, and threw him in a perfect lob over the attackers line. The goblin landed just paces from the ball, snatched it up and ran to the endzone and scored!

1 - 0 to the Ooglers!

The Lads got their act together and formed a massive ten man cage at the next kick-off. They throdded down the right wide zone, as the ogres pressed on from all sides. Urkhem again stepped forward and showed the crowd who was the 800 lbs gorilla on the pitch, by grabbing the head of poor Niflheim and squeezing it until it cracked like a walnut in a vise. Eventually, the cage got halted due to the increasing numbers of wounded and dead that were pulled off court.

The goblin Iggit grabbed the ball and headed for the endzone, only to realize he was to far away to reach it before the whistle would blow. Being everywhere at the same time, Urkhem showed up and lobbed the goblin as hard as he could down the norse half of the field. A bit too hard it showed, as Iggit came crashing down out of control and screaming, getting badly bruised in the process.

During the second half the ogres focused on punching out the remaining opposition, while Urkhem tried picking up the ball. This failed enough of times for the norse blitzers to go around the ogres and try to blitz their way to the ball. A bold move, but no match for the superior strength and numbers of the ogres.

The second touchdown for the ogres was just yards away, but their lack of focus in the end prevented them from keeping a firm grip on the ball, and the match ended 1 - 0.

A win, although at the cost of Grum, who in a routine block damaged his back so bad it will niggle him for the rest of his career.
