“Always knew this match'd be a tough one. The handicaps almost put things in my favour, but the Moreleys roll only hit one Saurus. The +ST was very handy, and would prove so for most of the game.
First rush, and I managed to KO another Saurus, while pushing VERY slowly up the field. I think Arta was loath to go near the sidelines (rightly so) so I pushed forward right near there, hoping to find a way through is wall of sidestepping skinks to the touchline. Thankfully, I made it, but I couldn't stop Arta scoring the equaliser before the half's end. 1-1
2nd half wasn't so friendly. I managed to trap a few Lizards near the sideline and Ballnasher got mangled by the crowd, with another Suarus getting away with a headache. Still, the Lizards pressed forward and the Norse just couldn't keep up. A series of ball handling errors allowed the Skinks to take the lead, then score again, and to make matters worse Gidush put an end to the promising career of Taruff. After taking out the Bronze shield last season, and impressing with so many casualties, he'll be sorely missed from the team.
“After all the pregame hype and both coaches manoeuvring for the underdog position, these two scissors teams took the field, not sure if the bashy game really was the go or not, being scared to get hurt themselves. The Northern Blight particularly were boosted by Inkerman 'Crimera' Raglanoff taking a rapid increase in strength (catching everyone by surprise). Erool II also rushed eating his pregame snack of beetles and spent much of it “out the back over the trench”.
The game was close for three quarters. Then some poor ball control let the Fossils in for a 3-1 scoreline and the game slipped away from the Blight. Thanks for the good game Patritian.
Twahnlow Votes:
3pts - #12 Inkerman 'Crimera' Raglanoff who (with a little help from his friends) was all beefed up for the game and didn’t disappoint. Rushed the 1st TD and continued to put lizards on the ground throughout the game.
2pts - #4 Iron Rammstein – Lots of key blocks, quality not quantity. Of particular note was his blitz to secure his team-mate Inkerman 'Crimera' Raglanoff on the sideline and prevent a crowd-surf.
1pt - #10 Silverstam Strekoff – encouragement award. Provided great entertainment fumbling the ball in the 4th quarter, then pushing Balldrinker onto the ball who, after a juggle, gulped it down and scored next turn. Chin-up mate!”
