“A tough game for our opponent, luck just wasn't on his side. His ogre failed his bonehead on 6 turns, which means he only played half the game (remind you of a treeman? :) ).
First half, he won the coin toss but elected to receive in the second half. We carried the ball up the sideline and scored, nothing fancy, our mino lead the way and a hobgoblin followed him in. Sending the other two hobgoblins ahead as outlets helped as it drew three of his players off preventing the run.
On the ensuing kick off, they couldn't get anyone open enough to get the ball down field. We were unable to pressure their thrower for most of the drive, but our secondary easily covered for our lack of pressure. Finally, they were forced to make a play and as their QB was moving forward, his eyes were too trained on the two tiny receivers up the field, well, hidden by our mino who was riding them haggard that he tripped on a piece of loose turf. We recovered the ball, but there was no time to make an endzone run.
The second half started well for our opponent, a quick blitz by their Ogre put him next to our mino who fell over and knocked his head on the Ogre's knee on the way down (that's the official story at least), knocking him out for the half. He's still complaining about seeing stars until now. Even without our mino, our coverage of their receivers proved difficult for their receivers to shake. Allowing our players to finally reach their QB as he sat back in the pocket. He slipped away the first time we got to him with some help from one of his players, but couldn't get the ball away, since the receivers would not be able to make it to the endzone before we could reach them. This allowed us to get right up in his face, our centaur blocking out alot of his sightlines, as he was going to throw the ball however, our Dwarf hit his elbow (quite inadvertantly) with his helmet knocking the ball out of his hands. Our centaur recovered the ball and walked it in... he must have been looking to his elven roots because earlier in this same drive he actually dodged away from their ogre.
There was alot of time for them to score, but as has proven the case throughout the game, their Ogre would forget what he was supposed to do at the most inopportune moments. We managed to get to the ball before any of their players could, but it was far too late to do anything with it but spike it and cheer our victory.
Great game with a good coach. Better luck in your next match today.”
