#6 Shannon Sharpe – Dead (RIP) #8 Al Wilson – Dead (RIP)
“It was a rainy day in Denver, and just sloppy ball on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
San Diego was able to field the ball well for an early td, thanks to the smart play by Brees. Quentin Jammer was able to run in the ball, showing coach Trog's ability to utilize whatever means necessary.
The next drive by the Broncos say a season ending injury to Al Wilson. The Chargers were able to stop the Broncos from scoring after stunning the audience with the late hit.
On the opening drive of the second half, the Broncos lost another star player, TE Shannon Sharpe to another injury. Inspired by their tragic loss, the offensive linemen put a few Chargers on the stretcher, with Kelvin Garmon out for at least a week. Rod Smith somehow managed a great catch inbetween defenders to sneak in for a TD.
But the rain finally let up late in the second half, but the Broncos were able to force a turnover and move the ball down field. Somewhere down the stretch, Jamal Williams was hit for the Chargers first season ending injury. The Broncos tried to score on a spectacular play in the last minutes by handing off between to defenders, dodging into the path of a defender then out, all without a reroll. Surprisingly, he made it, but tripped on his own feet just as he reached the end zone.
In the end, the Broncos managed to sneak out the win 16-13”
