The Woodland Dash took to the pitch for the last time before the Blitz Invitational. They did a good job, earning a new skill for their newer Wardancer, 60k for winnings, and 11 points towards the Blitz Invitational. Unfortunately, that puts them at 66 points which is just one point behind the second place team. But no matter, as at this stage, the diffference between second and third is only for bragging rights, since neither team gets any better seeded.

The Dash started off kicking and the High Elves scored easily. 1 - 0

Phalanat got the ball on the next drive and ran up the field with a loose cage. The High elves were too busy concerning themselves with the pass play than the rush and even after the side wall was broken, Mungle was able to get back up and clear the way for Phalanat to score. 1 - 1

The Dash provided a close defense but never the less, the High Elves managed to score on the very last turn, but just barely. Halftime score: 2 - 1

The Dash recieved and Likenbrap hid behind the Treeman Bodanteal. But he was not well enough protected as two enemies blitzed him and knocked him out. But, Bodanteal laid revenge on the offender and smashed one of them out of the way as then Phalanat, using his dodge skill, dodged, picked up the ball in a tackle zone, dodged again, and threw a short pass to the unmarked Mungle, the newest Wardancer, who was unmarked because the elves who were supposed to guard him had blitzed poor Likenbrap. So, Mungle easily scored that one, but it was a close call. 2 - 2

From there however, things went downhill. The High Elves again easily scored on their possesion, and the Dash had a chance to tie the game. But, using the same play as before, two High Elves blitzed the ballcarrier and knocked it free. This time the defense was in better position with the perfect defense kickoff roll, so they were able to shut down the Dash's attempts to get the ball out of trouble, which included a fumbled pass and failed catch. Then they were able to get the ball and by passing and then handing off, they managed to score again. Final score: 4 - 2.

The Dash fought well, but that perfect defense ruined them as well as just plain better tactics by coach Candlejack. This game was definately an elfbowl game, which coach Oblitzamanger commented on after the game.

"Going into this game, I was looking for no serious injuries or deaths so that the team would be full strength for the Blitz Invitational. Although the apothecary healed a death on the pitch, Sonpool will be sorely missed since he has to recuperate from that groin strain he picked up this game. Oh well...

"I want to congradulate coach Candlejack for the win. He must feel good about it as I had more luck but he still won. I wish him good luck with his team and I hope to play him again, even though he was not very talkative during the game.

"This team is ready for the Blitz Invitational. The money they earned will go towards a re-roll which sadly means that they will only have 11 players for the Championships, but that is what happens. They will be better next time, and they still have a shot at winning this one too. I look forward to seeing the outcome of their match(es)."

After that, he ran to the center of the pitch to make a sacrifice to Nuffle for his good fortune. Mungle and Orkanhime, the team's two Wardancers, performed many stunts in his name and pleased the god of Blood Bowl.

After the ritual, we managed to talk to both Mungle and Orkanhime. This is what they said.

Mungle - "Coach is going to teach me how to strip the ball from players even if I don't knock them down. How great!"

Orkanhime - "Yeah, with both of us leaping around the pitch and attacking the ballcarrier, we should defeat those girlies and win the Championships!"

Mungle - "Although Phalanat and Denfascus may think they are good, they are no where near us in skill."

Orkanhime - "We know that the fate of this team rests on our shoulders and that if we are going to win, we have to have some big games."

Mungle - "But there will be no problem as we are the best players in the entire tournament!"

So there you have it folks. The Woodland Dash will play the Amazon team the Jungle Slash in their first game of the Championships in the Footstool Match. Stay tuned to find out who wins and who will take it all!
