“After their loss in the Blitz Invitational, the Bite recovered and had a great match versus a poor Skaven team. They earned three, get that, three new skills, 50k, 14 points for the Blitz Invitational, and a morale uplift.

The luck meter shows just about the right luck as the Thralls were able to succeed everything. This was apparent as players were quickly leaving the pitch in the first half. As A Rat Ogre was killed by Cobrandex, a Vampire, and a linrat was killed but saved by the apothecary, and as a gutter runner had it's eye gouged by Cobrandex too, the Rats were in a hole, despite the fact that their other gutter runner had the ball. Two thralls went down seriously injured and many others were knocked out.

Eventually, with only three players to stop them (Domantrius, the team's capatain Vampire, was badly hurt and didn't regenerate), a lucky thrall was able to POW the gutter runner and prevent the score on turn 7. It was a lucky affair and the Bite was fortunate that they stopped that score.

At halftime, it was 0 - 0 and both teams had already suffered greatly. The Bite got the ball and Cobrandex ran down the field with it in a cage. Eventually, after two lucky one dice blocks which resulted in pushbacks, he dodged once and went for it twoce to score the Bite's only touchdown of the match.

But the Skaven easily scored back, even though again, a thrall POWed the gutter runner, picked up the ball, and recieved help from Cobrandex. The gutter runner got up and blitzed using it's horns skill and POWed the thrall right back, picked up the ball and scored. 1 - 1

With Cobrandex also being badly hurt and not regenerating, the Bite stalled for a turn and thus tied the game, in a great, albeit bloody, showing by both teams.

Coach Oblitzamanger said this after the game. "We got lucky as hell. We would have easily lost the match if we had been even a little unluckier. It was amazing to prevent the Skaven from scoring for a whole half, and doubly amazing we actually scored ourselves.

"I want to thank coach Zarathustra for the match and I give full props to his team. They fought bravely and tried to the end to win the match, but Nuffle was clearly on my side today. Zarathustra is a great coach and he took the carnage like a real Blood Bowl coach should, in stride, even with his Rat Ogre dying. I once again give him full props for the match and a re-match is in hand for us.

"The team is looking good as Cobrandex got a doubles roll. Now, with a Stand Firm Vampire and Jump Up Vampire, these guys are ready to take to the pitch again. I am proud of them and they are not looking like a weakling team anymore. Still, with those fragile thralls, I will still have to baby them for a while, until they start getting more skills."

After this, he ran onto the pitch and made the greatest sacrifice to Nuffle he has ever done. All the players joined in and even Staina and Petrandus were able to take part. The festival was amazing and everyone enjoyed it.

As for Staina, with already a niggling injury, he may be retired before he has a chance to play again, since he will have to miss the next game. The money from this game though most likely will be saved up for new Vampire talent instead of a replacement.

The Bite has tied with the Woodland Dash for first place in the group thus far in the standings for the Blitz Invitational.”
