The Dead Chess Masters looked to open their legacy with a match against a newly formed Chaos Dwarf team. Having returned from the grave, the Chess Masters were eager to try their hand at a new competition, and the Slugs would not disappoint - a hard fought match!

Considerable technical difficulties almost halted this match before it started - this being the first match for the Slugs' new coach. After much discussion, the Slugs' coach ended up with the right client, connected to the right proxy, and we were off!

The Slugs showed they were no newbies to BloodBowl, and cracked open a hole with Centaur Bram and driving down the sideline with Hobgoblin Xepas. Stubborn defending, led by Mummy Emmanuel Lasker, who went as far as flinging Centaur Bruargh bodily into the crowd! Bram was able to free Xepas, who scored easily.

On the next drive, Ghoul Mikhail Tal connected with Ghoul Mikhail Botvinnik, who made a break down the sideline. Botvinnik was swarmed by defenders, and carted off to the Badly Hurt bin. This left Mummy Alexander Alekhine with the nigh impossible task of going for it and completing a pass under duress to streaking Wight Aron Nimzovich. The task proved too great, and the half ended.

At the beginning of the second half, the Dead Chess Masters strode onto the field, but where were the Slugs? Five minutes... Ten minutes... What has happened to them? Eventually, a search party was sent, and found them lost in the catacombs beneath the pitch. The match was resumed forthwith.

Mikhail Tal, the sole Ghoul standing, took the ball to begin the second half. As the mummies cleared away blockers, Tal broke left, looking for his chance. However, accurate defending forced Tal back into his own half. With Mummy Lasker leading the way, Tal tried his luck on the right. The five blockers proved too much, and Tal easily advanced to the goal line. Tal paused here, waiting for time to tick away, since he was clearly destined to score just once this game. Tal scored, but left just enough time for the Slugs to have a last chance - he should have waited longer.

The Slugs lept on the opportunity given to them. Bram was handed the ball, and he gallopped down to six paces of the goal, and was surrounded by Chess Master defenders. Bram made a valiant effort to dodge past, but there were too many, and the game ended on his fumble.

A fine game, and a just result, 1-1. Best wished to my worthy opponent, welcome to FUMBBL!
