“This was the first of a run of three matches which spiralled out of control for the Vanguard as they rolled up one set of snakes after another. It completely paralysed out strategy and nuffled our gameplay, and it all started here in the 2nd half!

Started out with a missed catch, followed by a missed pickup next drive and finished with a missed throw after we'd retrieved the ball. Snakes tripped up a dodge in there somewhere also. But regardless of whatever curse had been laid on them, the lads really hadn't lit up the pitch. They were still regrouping after falling apart last season and really hadn't got their game together. A quick analysis of the replays suggested they'd forgotten how to make contingency plans and eganra's lads made clinical work of their failure to have any sort of backup strategy.

The gutters were surprisingly the problem this game. The claws hadn't been sharpened, but you simply can't drop the ball when there's four gutters swarming around.
