“What a match this was, as two coaches who really didn't like each other much and had gotten into verbal fights before let their teams do the fighting.
The Dash and coach Oblitzamanger came out on top though due merely to luck after being seriously out played and outbashed by the better coach and team. The Dash earned 17 points towards the Blitz Invitational and took back first place. They also got three skills, one of which was coach Oblitzamanger's first ever +St on fumbbl, another was side step for their second Wardancer, and lastly sure hands for their only thrower. And with the cash, they bought a shiny new catcher.
The Dash recieved to start. With a well placed kick, the Dash rushed into the opposition's field, flooding it with stronger players. With both of Dark Side Up's treemen taking root on their second turn, the Woodland Dash was able to pass it to Sonpool across the field and effectively cage him around the endzone and stall for a turn. But coach Oblitzamanger knew when his stall had been called and the team scored too quick. 1 - 0
The flings scurried around, badly hurting many elves, but at the price of their +St +Ag fling, Dread Salsa, who was badly hurt too. With not enough players to stop it, and too much diving tackle, and on a well planned and executed play, the flings scored back just at halftime. 1 - 1
It seemed that the game would end up with Dark Side Up winning due to there being only 4 elves on the pitch and a downed treeman for the Dash, but a miscalculation by coach flynn led to their ballcarrier being knocked down and knocked out. Somehow, the four elves recovered the ball and secured it by sending the last few flings off the pitch. Since, once again, both treemen for the flings had taken root early, they were of no use as Mungle somehow scored on the last turn on which was perhaps the most surprising, lucky, and biggest upsetting and respect earning drive ever in the Woodland Dash's history of 8 games.
We managed to get a statement from coach Oblitzamanger after the game. "I really want to thank coach Flynn for the match. He really is a good sport and even though he has several times bragged that he could wipe the floor with me with his stunty teams, I am glad I have proven him wrong. Although, that is not saying much since he totally deserved the victory and had it in his pocket the entire time only for a few lucky elves to take it away from him. His stunties are tough and dealt some damage before they were through. Ultimately, he is a great coach and he has earned my respect even through my harsh words at him before.
"I thought the team did well and I was very surprised that they lived, earned SPPs, and actually managed to win. I am very happy with them now, as they have my highest TS ever for a team on fumbbl, and are perhaps the best team I have ever had here on fumbbl too. This makes me as a coach very exited and happy for them. I just hope they live long enough to enjoy it."
After that, he ran off to the center of the pitch to have the greatest sacrifice he had ever performed for Nuffle. It was the greatest sacrifice ever. We were unable to reach the rest of the team for interviews because of this huge festival in Nuffle's name, although Bodanteal, the treeman, did give us a thumbs up while (slowly) walking back into the locker room.
That is all for this reporter. The Dash looks to win the Championship for this round of the Blitz Invitational and looks like the front-runner at this point.”
