“Dead Chess Masters versus Pantathians matched the strength and speed of lizardmen agains the power and determination of the undead. A hard-hitting, uncompromising match was in the cards. Lack of good ball handlers would ensure a wild fight throughout the game.

Mikhail Tal caught the opening kickoff and set up inside a wall of blockers, while Mikhail Botvinnik headed downfield. Mummies and wights pounded on Pantathian sauri, while Tal kept his eyes open for a chance. The advantage came on the left side, as the lizards were knocked aside, and Tal advanced for a score.

Skink Chalcides Ocellatus tried for the first completion of the game, but the pass was off target, the ball landing on the midfield line. A mad scramble erupted around the ball. Eumeces Tetragrammus gathered the ball for the Pantathians, and cowered by the sideline trying not to get hit. A massive push by Saurus Pogona opened up the hole, and Chalcides skated through for his touchdown.

The second half started with yet another fumble by the Lizards, and the ball squirted over by the touchline at midfield. Mikhail Tal hurled the ball to a streaking Tigran Petrosian. The ball skipped off Tigran's fingers, and he was swarmed by skinks. A scrum around the ball scrambled things up, while the big boys had a good old bar fight at midfield, mindless of any thoughts of the ball. Chalcides escaped with the ball, but only long enough for Tigran to haul him down from behind and blast his way into the endzone.

Chalcides gathered the kickoff, and completed his first pass of the day to Eumeces. Eumeces dodged past the blitzing undead, and levelled the score at 2-2. A rough game, with more fumbles and mad scrambles than usual. Rerolls were necessary to just pick up the ball, and even that was not enough as often as not. An enjoyable contest with a worthy opponent.
