“Undead versus Chaos - a hard hitting combination! The Dead Chess Masters looked to defend their undefeated record.
Chaos Beastman Swarm II took the ball off the kick, and headed upfield. Good blocking knocked out Mummy Emmanuel Lasker, and Swarm was well on his way. Surrounded by blockers, Swarm advanced toward the end zone, but determined Chess Master blocking took away all the rushing lanes, and a fumble resulted. Mikhail Tal attempted to clear the ball, but lost it in the scrum. This time the Chaotics made no mistake, Lord Chlorox scoring the touchdown and ending the half.
The second half started with an old-fashioned pounding line formation for the Chess Masters, and immediately the advantage was gained on the right side of the line, with zombies and skeletons outflanking the Chaotics. Mikhail Botvinnik advanced the ball up the sideline, and although the Chaotics resisted fiercely, superior blocking opened the game up, and Botvinnik scored.
A badly handled kick gave the Dead Chess Masters another chance, but Tal saw something hideous and threw the ball poorly. Beastman Plague took a pass from Greed and raced upfield to try to get the gamewinner, but , although the Chess Masters defended poorly, there was insufficient time for a touchdown.
Tigran Petrosian was lost this game - time will tell for how long he is gone. Oblixs the undead orc has been joined by Sloth, the undead beastman. Once again, the chess playing power of this team may have been diluted.
