An all-undeadish Axis and Allies league matchup, at a made-for-Aussie-TV kickoff time.

The match started off in wet conditions, leaving both coaches just slightly worried about ever picking up the ball. However, it turned into a suddenly blinding sunny day as the ball went into play. Not like either of these squads was going to be passing the ball a lot anyway.

The Khemri side started with the ball, but they failed to pick up the ball twice, allowing the Moonbeams to send in a few of their speedier players to disrupt any cage formation. Eventually, the Moonbeams were able to sneak the ball out of a midfield mess, and Jackrabbit danced away for the opening score just before half.

The Moonbeams started with the ball in the second half, and got two breaks on the kickoff... the kick scattered out of bounds, and their fans got the ref. The subsequent fouls didn't accomplish much (one stun in four tries), but the speedy Werewolf Summer Bramble took the touchback, and was able to bide his time waiting for an opening... 2-0.

With the result no longer in doubt, fans invaded the field on the next kickoff, knocking out a pair of Khemri players before the drive could get started. Short-handed, they couldn't form a tight enough cage, and Jackrabbit eventually scooped up a loose ball and ran for another score.

The key to the game for the Moonbeams (besides some decent luck) was the performance of fleshie Starflower and the rock-solid zombies around the line. They were able to keep the mummies tied up all game... two casualties on the last turn of the match (both regenerated this time) were the only significant damage.

Thanks to wings for a fun, good-spirited match.
