With the Zons having only ten players fit to play in this match up Carlton were moderately confident of victory, despite the ladies' unbeaten record. All the main players had been deemed fit to play in this key game and the game plan was to utilise both the superior numbers, superior armour, and just plain Affle given superiority of the Human to whittle these girls down to an unplayable number. That was the game plan...

It all started well, with Carlton winning the toss and electing to receive. A quick stone throw from the eager United fans and an equally quick strike down the middle saw star Catcher Chucky Nigglefish score a quick opener. Things were looking good. 1-0 Carlton.

The Zons were in fine fighting form (which is far more than can be said for their manly counterparts) and quickly set about beating their way forward as they received. A scrum quickly formed around the ball as Mr. Swan directed his boys from the sidelines, eager for them to get stuck into the lightly armoured Amazons. Lightly armoured they may have been but the Carlton players seemed intent on ignoring their coaches vicious encouragement, refusing to knock a single player down for the entire first half and generally displaying a gallantry far in excess of that expected of a Blood Bowler.
The fans were gobsmacked as the Zons proceeded to lay waste to our foolish boys, smacking them violently and arrogantly refusing to score until just on half time, Tracey the thrower putting it away in the end.

Receiving in the second half, the Zons could not help but laugh as they surveyed the pitiful lineup that was arrayed before them; a mere 7 men. Continuing to lay their fists around, the Zons immediately formed a cage and looked set to take full advantage of their numbers, getting ready to run down the clock for a 2-1 victory. 7 men were quickly reduced to 6 and the end result was starting to look inevitably predictable to all but the Duke. Spotting an opportunity, he leapt forward to Blitz the heart of the cage knocking the ball free and into the waiting hands of Gordon Lau. The 'Flash' was quickly stripped and surrounded, the cage reforming. All was not to be lost, however, as, with support from Davros, Lau was able to regain his feet, freeing the ball by way of his fist, and dodge away from his captors, snatching the ball from the grass and sprinting away. The United fans and coaching staff rose as one, in awe of the raw talent that 'Flash' was displaying. Despite shrugging off all attacks, the Blitzer was quickly surrounded by 7 of the girls. Some strange fire had possessed him though, and he Blitzed his way clear yet again, utilising his superior speed to again break clear. One last effort from his enemies was not even close to enough and he easily stormed his way to the Zone, soaking up the adulation of crowd. The boys from Carlton were in the lead!!

The second half coming to a close, the Zons were fighting with a desperate need to equalise. Gordon found himself unmarked and raced headlong at the ball carrier. Could his glorious dominance be set to continue? No. Shoving him aside the Zons managed a pass down the field to the waiting Becky who made her dash.
The clock was ticking. It was do or die...

Carlton was playing a deep defence and rushed a gang of players around her, forcing her to the sideline. It was down to the wire and Becky was the Zons' only chance. Equal to her task, she Blitzed her way clear with skill and agility. Touchdown! The match was drawn.

With not enough time remaining for any more action, that was how the match ended. 2-2, the Zons moving to 2nd and Carlton moving to equal 3rd.

Great game, wthair, well played. Can't believe that comeback TD of mine! These Carlton boys seem to play best when fielding half a team...
