Well, we had our chances, but messed them up. A combination of little mistakes here and there, and a few rather nice rolls at the right time made it difficult for the orcs to score even one TD. It was really only when the elves backed off a bit with a 2-0 lead that we pulled ourselves together enough for a TD.
Anyway - the match started off with a blitz, that *should* have given us enough of an advantage to take the lead, but 2 players off the field in the first turn, and a risky play saw the ball turn over, and from there the elves had no trouble scoring.
We had an opportunity for the equaliser, which wasn't taken (in hindsight I definitely should have taken it ... ah well) - so, at half time, it was 0-1.
The second half saw us make a fairly solid offensive drive up one of the sidelines which looked good ... until a wardancer leap + 1d block saw the ball bounce into the *wrong* place. Our ag5 thrower did manage to retrieve the ball, only to have it intercepted (6+ of course), leading to a fairly easy second TD for the elves.
The final drive saw a half-hearted elvish defence give way to a consolation TD giving me a second linewoman on 15 SPPs (I really gotta get those two the one extra SPP they need).

Easy pick this one. The key player in stopping all of our touchdown opportunities. He also made a nuisance of himself with blodge/diving tackle in just the wrong places (not to mention that I couldn't seem to hurt ugly bugger).
2 pts - #9 Tip Rat
As well as being a pain in the arse all game with his ST4 all game ... this fellow made the crucial interception, allowing a fairly easy TD to decide the match.
1 pt - #14 Drummo the Bummo
Maybe he doesn't deserve these points, but his AG5 made me take options that I might have been able to otherwise avoid. He's certainly a team player, providing help where it is needed rather than rushing in with all the TDs (like so many other elven catcher types seem to do).”
“The Woodies make their debut in Premier after missing the first 2 games of the season.
Whatever they lads were doing in the extra long off season it worked wonders. The Men of Wood could do no wrong. Punishing blocks, flawless ball control and some amazing last ditch tackles. If this standard of play can be maintained for the rest of the season then the WDDs have a good chance of staying aloft in Prem.
Twahnlows:
3pts: Elbow Kikka - Was the only Ork girl who culd really hold her head high after this game. Some nice fouls and the only TD of the match for the Zons.
2pts: Loony Tossa - Had a sound game but did throw a pass within arms reach of Tip Rat which then lead to the Woodies winning TD
1pt: Bone Krasha - Did not have her best game but gets the points for drawing so much attention from the woodies who seemed more concered about her current health than the ball. Was guilty of blowing a TD for the Orks when she stopped inches short of the endzone to wave to her adoring fans.
Cheers for the game Lav not much went your way. ”
