#15 Billy Clanton – Smashed Knee (NI)
This game was so annoying I started writing the match report in the 2nd turn of OT. I started with 10 players due to handicaps; that was hardly the annoying part. Jinxed starting whining after two turns of the match when my luck was 100% after I had made 2 whole blocks and 3 2+ dodges. I heard about more "luck" in my favor despite pointing out that I felt he was discrediting my coaching. To be honest, I had some good plays, but they could have been easily avoided had my opponent caged better. Finally after 12 turns of complaining about every instance of “luck” I explicitly stated that he was sounding like a really poor sport considering I had 6 players left and he was only down 2-1 with 4 turns to go. So finally he stayed quiet and of course scored to even up the match. He made another minor complaint in OT after he made another placement error that allowed me a 1d pow that resulted in a stun. I effectively had only 5 players left at this point because my tree had taken root again. Oh, by the way he took root on 4/6 rolls and failed ¾ stand ups, none of which I pointed out in the game. Nor did I point out his multiple dodge through a TZ and 2 gfi blitz on his turn 7 of the second half resulted in a pushout niggling injury to my best catcher and the ball scattered out of bounds and was thrown in and caught by one of his players 4 paces for the tying score. And why? Because luck changes throughout the game and complaining about it the whole way through and ignoring your own errors can accomplish only a few things:

1) Discrediting the other coach’s ability to capitilize
2) Encourage your opponent to whine and point out every instance of luck on your part (which I did not do)
3) Make you look like a whiner

Jinxed, you are obviously a decent coach, but please, spare your opponent the gripes about luck.

Edit: Do you feel any better pointing out every instance of bad luck? Even in your initial comments, you list out 3 good points that you effectively cancel out by referring to more bad luck. My point is simple, nobody feels good when there are complaints about luck. Especially when there are no acknowledgements to a coach that makes a nice play. You choose a coach name with a self-fulfilling prophesy attached it; not that you *will* have bad luck, because *everyone* has bad luck, but instead that you will always feel jinxed when you *do* have bad luck.

As far as nobody complaining about it...I did the first time these same two teams played. Despite my "nice" match report, I did remember telling you that you seemed to complain a lot despite the fact that you were winning at the time. I can't speak for everyone else. I find it hard to believe that I am the first coach in over 1,000 matches to mention that you whined a bit, but I will take your word for it. Oh, and by the way, you did not mention how lucky you were on the pushout, niggle, throw-in, catch, and resulting tie play. You only mentioned that the niggle was harsh after I said "ouch". Heck, you even complained when a 6-orc gangfoul resulted in a KILL to my ST 4 dodger bc my apoth worked and you only wanted a BH. You can't win when you judge each individual situation on luck or try to rate it on critical plays. To me, a critical play was not putting your guarders in a good cage, not my 1d blocks with strip ball to get possession. I think we can go back and forth on these points. Write more if you feel the need, but unless you make an insult deserving of a Zinedine Zidane head-butt, I won't feel the need to comment again.

EDIT: Oops, perhaps there was a mistake due to a language difference. I did not think you insulted me at all. I only meant that you would have to give me a big insult (trying to make a joke too) to make me want to reply again. But I guess I lied, because here I am replying again ;-)

I agree that we agree to disagree.

On paper my team looked like having it in the bag.

11 elves vs 12 Orcs plus getting 2 handicaps?

The only downside was that these Orcs were in major bad Nuffle MOJO. (thrower/BOB and blitzer; all 3 skills lost due to failing apoth)

Well; let me put it this way. He asked me to NOT comment any longer.

I will remain quiet and only point at the good bits:

1- My apoth worked. (first time in a long series of fails)
2- Fine winnings. (enough for a 4th blitzer-> one of them apoth fails)
3- MVP on rookie BOB (yep; replacement BOB after apoth fail)

Not bad for this team really.

Have been shafted worse.
Losing a coin toss (after failing the winning gfi) is progress for these ladz...

For the record; Celas played it out fine. Kudoz.

Good luck in hte rest of the tournament.

edit after his comments:

Whatever mate. The ONE thing which ALWAYS amazes me is that whenever I feel that dice are kind to me I mention this too.

Oddly enough; no one EVER complains about that.

Oh; and about the game and better caging?
You DID note that I had no sure hands (thrower died after yet another apo fail) and you had leaping strip ballers?

Go watch your first TD. End of 1st half.

Then tell me again that I should not feel robbed.

Again; sure you played it out well.
But boy, did dice do you favours when it mattered.

Napoleon once asked when a new (and allegedly brilliant) General was introduced to him.

"Sure he is good. but tell me the important thing about him. Is he lucky when it matters?"

;-)

I wish you well in the remainder of the tournament.

And I sure will say not a word to you next time.

Not for good (never noticed anyway) or for bad.

Let's agree to disagree shall we?

PS: Insult? Worthy of a head-butt? pfff. Now you REALLY are losing it. (IMO) I dare you to quote me on ANYTHING even VAGUELY insulting to you.

Quite the contrary.

But like I said; we disagree. Happens. No problem. Cya.
