A new H League record crowd of 48,000 turned up to watch rookie rat rabble Ratzenburg take on the impressive Rusland Raiders from the Norse country. You have to say that it's a good job this match was broadcast after the watershed. To put it mildly the rats were pulverised. Rent-a-Kill couldn't have done a better rodent destruction job. The local arms dealer, Prosthetics-R-Us, did a roaring trade throughout the match.

With 6 (six) seriously injured players and two others badly hurt it meant that just four Skaven were left on the field at the end of the game. In the context four nil doesn't sound like a bad result but in all honesty (and that's what we aim for in these reports) if ever the phrase "and they were lucky to get nil" was appropriate to a match then this was it.

Most Valuable Player was not surprisingly the dashing young Raiders Blitzer Bjorn who scored a brace of TDs. Incidentally a brace is precisely what the broken jawed lineman required after the match. Bjorn took his chances beautifully with his dynamic, synergistic combination of strength and speed allowing him to stroll over the whitewash unopposed for either score.

Varhl scored again to keep up his 100% scoring record and, from the ranks of unsung heroes, youngster Yorvik impressed with one casualty and one extrordinary leap into the air like a slender salmon sweeping upstream to intercept an almost certain touchdown pass. Obviously one to watch.

Where now for the Creekmoorcrusader? Played 4; Lost 4; Good 4; nothing! For the good of the game BB fans are hoping he can find a win somewhere so that he doesn't give up the sport. Enquiries are already being made with Admin to see if his teams are allowed to play each other.

Reports that the ale adoring Norseman got ratted after the match are entirely true.

Asked if he thought luck had any part to play in the match Coach Hepworthnot said "no". There were no press left to record what Creekmoorcrusader may have said.

Ratzenburg were a new team from the Skaven race, full of youngsters with high hopes. The first match was to be against the newly formed Rusland Raiders, Noresmen from the Land of the Ford, and the Skoda (or is that Sweden?)

Now, although quite fierce fighters in their day, the Norsemen are not exactly renowned in the Blood Bowl world has ruthless, vicious hard-hitters. That is, not until they came up against possibly the unluckiest coach in the history of The Ugly Game.

Riddle me this, Blood Bowl fans - how the ecky peck can a team with four rats left on the field (and possibly only one of them actually standing) be considered to have had 62% luck?!! Yes, I know - tell me about it.

One has to feel a great deal of sympathy for Coach Creekmoorcrusader. Coach CC left the Blood Bowl Coaching Acadamey with honours - in fact, honours with gold bells on! Not since the great Orc coach of Gouged Eye has the Academy seen such a unique and promising talent.

And yet, with four matches under his belt, working with three different teams so far, Coach CC's record makes sorry reading - four straight losses. Blood Bowl pundits are completely puzzled by the poor start to his Coaching career, and most are blaming it on nerves, pure and simple.

They all know, as do most people involved with the game, that he has what it takes to be one of the greatest team leaders the Old World has ever seen - it just might take some time.

However, many of the game's experts have also pointed to the innordinate amount of bad luck the Coach has suffered so far - shocking refereeing decisions, an unprecedented number of bad injuries, and, quite frankly, some poor performances from some of his players.

Ratzenburg have come and gone - Coach Creekmoor C had no choice but to retire them. But his teams of Wood Elves and Chaos are still online, and will be looking to build. We managed to speak to the Coach and he told us he was also looking at coaching one or two other races, with "a bit more about them". We shall wait and see.

In the meantime, don't be mislead by the very disappointing start to this coach's career - great reputations are built more on ability to deal with failure, rather than simply on successes.
