“The Graveyard Gnash played in their last tuneup game before the Blitz Invitational and came out okay. Unlike last time, they didn't pick up any injuries right before the tournament, thus giving them a chance to win. However, had they not lost player for the first round, they may have won that one, but now since they are in the Crumbs match, they have an uphill batlle versus three good teams they would have to defeat in order to win it all as they ended up in second place with 10 points from this win today bringing them to 48 overall. They earned no new skills, but got enough money to buy that second Ghoul, Tweendle.

During the entire game it was pouring rain. The Gnash kicked off and their frontline was smashed. However, the Gnash was able to step up on the Orcs and prevent them from breaking through the pocket. With patience and good blocking, rookie Werewolf Skealcid was able to blitz a hole right through the flank of the Orcs and land his hot sweaty body right next to the team's Star thrower, Bobo, but not after Skealcid gave that defender a concussion. A turnover left Bobo exposed though as Skealcid, who had been blitzed down the previous turn, got back up and blitzed Bobo with some assists, stunning the Thrower. The Gnash was content just to protect the ball in the rain which was right near the huge mid-pitch brawl. But Troll Myrick got in the way of the Gnash recovering the ball. However, unknowingly, Black Orc Blocker Twitch, who also happens to be the head coach, pushed the other Werewolf Clawmide into the ball, which bounced into the hands of the +Ag Wight Spitebade. But after he was blitzed by Bobo, he was stunned as Bobo himself tripped to recover the ball. Clawmide saw his chance and escaped the brawl with a dodge, picked up the slippery ball, and ran away towards the endzone. He could not be stopped as he crossed the goal-line. 1 - 0 Graveyard Gnash

The Gnash was easily able to prevent the score before halftime. 1 - 0 Graveyard Gnash

The Gnash then recieved and knew that they had to be careful. So they sat both Werewolves to prevent injury to them. The move payed off as they held onto the win and had no injuries. The rain meant that even sure handed Ghoul Gregolio could not pick up the ball. But the Gnash was only stalling for time and the win. Their front line held for two turns when gregolio got the ball and rushed upfield behind the line. But stupidly, Zombie Wenky challenged Troll Myrick and got knocked out. That was bad as he was one of the corners on the line. The Troll then blitzed Gregolio, but the Ghoul was determined not to go down as he knocked out the Troll! On the next turn, Gregolio scampered through the gap that had been just created and dashed to a remote spot near the endzone. When a dodge failed for the blitz on gregolio, he only had to dodge to score. However he failed too, and the ball popped free with 5 turns remaining for Bobo and Friends to score back.

With so many players down, the Orcs couldn't get to the ball just yet. But they did send players forward to eventually recieve the pass. The Gnash tried to guard all the players. Gregolio managed to get up and dodge again, get the ball again, but once again, fail the final dodge to score. The ball went loose again as this time, Gregolio was pinned to the sideline. Using their last re-roll to pick up the ball, Bobo and Friends secured it and sent more players forth to recieve the pass. The Gnash was now very scattered across the field and was this time unable to mark the ones downfield as their faster and more agile players were tied up elsewhere. however, Wight Spitebade did get himself right in front of the ballcarrier Linorc Truan. However, he was blitzed away as Truan threw the ball.

Everyone was watching closely on the ball. That pass would make or break the game. It sailed over the mid-pitch brawl, over the empty space, and over the reciever's head! Somehow, Wight Sollong and Zombie Jorge Hellwind got themselves deep in their own half to try to stop the score. Sollong blitzed his way down and effectively blocked the way to the ball and Jorge Hellwind helped the screen. But on the next turn, Linorc Dave II killed Sollong in a blitz! However, Sollong regenerated as Dave II failed to pick up the ball, leaving both he and Jorge Hellwind (the only Gnash player left in the area) to duke it out for the game. Jorge Hellwind knocked Dave II down and held on to his spot next to the ball. But he was brushed aside by the Orc's reinforcement, Black Orc Blocker and coach Twitch. The head coach cheered Lineorc Jeff on as he ran to dodge, pick up the ball and make two go for its into the endzone on th last turn of the game. The play was risky but the only way to tie the game.

Jeff went into Jorge Hellwind's tackle zone and then came out.... on his feet! He then went to pick up the slippery ball... and grabbed firmly onto it! He then ran up to the endzone going that extra square... and kade it without tripping. The crowd emmitted a sigh of relief as he only had one more square to go. he went for that last ambitious square to score the tying touchdown... but overstepped and fell hard onto the turf, ending the game. 1 - 0 Graveyard Gnash.

Coach Oblitzamanger said this after the game. "I am very proud that the Gnash was able to hold on for the win. I am also very surprised. It was a very close game and it all came down to a 1 on the last dice roll. I want to thank coach Twitch for the game and I hope he enjoyed it even though it was kinda boring. And I want to congradulate him for his win in a real live tournament this morning. Obviously Nuffle didn't want him to win too much in one day!"

Coach Oblitzamanger then ran off to make a sacrifice to said diety, which was a grand performance, for now he can start the second round of the Blitz Invitationas, and he wanted the tournament to go just right!”
