The Woodland Dash, Champions of the Blitz Invitational, took to the field against some very tough High Elves who were Champions in their own rite. The Dash got lucky on several occasions which saved the game for them.

First, the rookie Linelf Curunir was unable to play due to a niggling injury. Then, the Champions of Valinor recieved some very bad press. But the most important of them all was when +Ma, Tackle, Captain Wardancer Orkanhime got his hands on some illegal drugs that increased his strength for the game. His extra strength would be absolutely necessary to winning the match.

The Dash recieved first and set up in their normal fashion. However, due to good defense, they were not able to make the pass play immediately. Instead, Thrower Keelian passed the ball to Linelf Likenbrap who was inside a side wall. Despite a blitz from the obvious star of the Champions, Dragon Warrior Tulkas Astaldo, the sidewall moved up the field when Tulkas was crowdpushed away. After four turns, Likenbrap finally scored. 1 - 0 Woodland Dash

Despite the short kick, the Champions were not only able to get a side wall around their intended scorer, but they also killed +St Linelf Sonpool, who has experienced death twice now. He was saved by the apothecary luckily; but the Dash could not get to the ball which was deep in the High Elf's half with a dedicated Thrower ready to sprint upfield and make the pass. So Wardancer Mungle tried to crowdpush the intended reciever but only stunned himself on his leap landing. thus, the pass went flawlessly and the Catcher scored easily. 1 - 1

With just three turns remaining in the half, the Dash knew they had to score or they would lose the match. But another good defense, and a blitz which knocked the ball out of Keelian's hands, made it seem impossible. But Sonpool, risen from the dead, got the ball back and Keelian got up and passed it to Linelf Phalanat, who ran into the open backfield. He was marked, but a failed dodge on the blitz that would have stopped the Wood Elf in his tracks enabled the runner to score just before the half was over. Halftime: 2 - 1 Woodland Dash

After the break, the Champions got the ball. In an amazing display of dodging and grace, Catcher Varda Elbereth of the Champions waltzed through the small crack in the line and handed it off to a team-mate in the endzone for the tying touchdown. 2 - 2

The Dash was in serious trouble because a Blitz! result at the kickoff turned a simple possesion into a scramble for the ball. That +Ag Dragon Warrior Tulkas Astado got the ball which was kicked short, and his team-mates formed a cage around him in the Dash's own half! The Wood Elves failed to knock him down as he rushed across the field with only two GFIs left. He made the first..., but failed the second which would have had him score. The ball went out of bounds and was thrown right next to where all the Wood Elves were standing. So, they caged around Keelian after some well placed blocks and he eventually scored, leaving the High Elves just three turns to score back. 3 - 2 Woodland Dash

The Champions did something coach Oblitzamanger was not expecting, which was make a long pass strait up the middle to score. And they did, leaving two turns for the Dash to score back in. 3 - 3

After another knock down on Keelian, the ball popped to Linelf Phalanat who was guarding him. The Dash only had to pass, catch, dodge, 2d block for pushback, then hand off and catch, and just run it in for the winning touchdown. It seemed easy, but Phalanat fumbled the first roll which was a pass, ending the game. 3 - 3

Coach Oblitzamamnger said this after the game. "I want to thank coach Grimdrakk for the wonderful game. Only good things came out of it. Likenbrap learned Guard and I got 80k as well as an increase of fan factor. And no injuries too! I am a happy coach.

"Coach Grimdrakk was delightful and fun to play against. He kept things real and didn't do anything unecessary. I enjoyed the match and I hope he does too. Whoo! Go Bucs!

"I thought the team did very well today. It was kind of embarrasing that the team only tied and had such better luck too. TS and luck should have been the factor for the victory alone, but things didn't turn out that way... But I am happy anyway. The team is looking good again and has a good shot at winning the Blitz Invitational again this next time."

After that, he ran off to the center of the pitch and made a sacrifice to Nuffle. Mungle and Orkanhime did exotic dances for the Diety, and he was pleased.

The Dash has four more games to go before they play in their third Blitz Invitational, for which they earned 15 points. They are saving up for a new Thrower or Catcher and only need 10k more to reach that goal.
