“Brotherhood of the Slayer's 10 game winning streak to end as White Hands overrun this season's dominating OCCS team in 2006's second major
Underdog Isengard White Hands beat OCCS leaders Brotherhood of the Slayer in the World-Edge Mountains Ogre-Ade Challenge 2006 final. The White Hands, who so far had their best performance as runner ups in the Amorical Regional Playoffs 05-06, remained victorious against the undead teams General's Army and Morgue Maulers in the quarter- and semifinals, respectively, inflicting 11 casualities on their way to the final.
The Brotherhood, who have won 2 out of 4 Amorical Regional Playoffs as well as the Cabalvision Athletic Cup, this season's first OCCS major, overpowered the vampire team Crimson Juicers and the Orcish Spirits, netting 7 casualities in the process.
Isengard and the Brotherhood met before in the Amorical Regional Playoffs 05-06 when the chaos side killed orc blitzer Gruzzuk and taught the White Hands a valuable lesson.
One BOB down (Black Orc Blocker Donald was retired and became assistant coach previously as he had suffered from a serious injury in the semis), Isengard had also to cope with the absence of star blitzer Bishop, whose niggling injuries made it impossible for him to play the final he had been looking forward to the entire season. Obviously shocked by the absence of their leader, the greenskins produced an early turnover and things looked grim when the Brotherhood scored the 1-0.
The White Hands, however, werew able to recover by doing what orcs can do best: bash, bash, bash and bash, with the obligatory foul inbetween. Brotherhood's players began to become nervous when their numbers dwindled as fellow teammates became badly hurt on several occasions, while the orcs were able to tie the game at the end of half 2.
Disappointing blocks by starmutant Reign of Chaos didn't help a confused chaos side, and when the 2nd half saw chaos warriors and beastmen failing almost every action they tried, the orcs didn't hesitate too long to capitalize on their foe's mistakes, decided to get to "da din'" themselves and went for the decisive 2-1.
Blitzer's Cicero and Ajax accounted for 1 touchdown and 1 casuality each and could very well become the stars of a new generation of White Hands.
Even though Isengard's win put an end to a straight 10 game winning streak of this season's dominating OCCS-team, it seems highly unlikely for one of the trailing teams to catch up with the Brotherhood which still commands a comfortable lead over their competitors, especially as they didn't suffer any lasting injuries or ageings.”
