“The Rats lined up against the Oges, fearing for the worst, as you would expect.
The Ogres got hold of the ball and began their slow grind up the pitch, clearing rats as they went. The Rats sacraficed Rat after Rat charging into the Behemoth in the hope of bringing him down, all the time more Rats entering either the KO or injury box. Then right near the end of a half, one of the Rats finally took the Ogre down, a gutter runner quickly diving in and taking the ball upfield to score at the end of the half 1-0.
The Rats lined up the second half with 6 Rats, which were soon to be even less, the Ogres clearing Rat after Rat, like some professional road sweeper. The Rats tried to pass the ball down field, but when if failed to find the hands of the waiting Gutter runner a Goblin dived in and took the ball, only to be thrown in a great Ogre play the following turn near to the end zone 1-1.
The 4 remaining weary Rats took the field to receive again. The ball was collected by the thrower and taken to a safe area where he could only watch as a failed dodge at the LoS left his 3 team mates in trouble. Soon after there were 2 Rats on the field and heavy pressure on the Thrower. With little option he ran as far as he could up the field and threw the ball towards the Ogre endzone, shortly before being hit himself and removed from the pitch. There would be no rat score, but at least they could preserve the draw.
The final Rat left on the field was Henry Morgan, who was made of stronger stuff and as soon a the chance was there, he stood up and in a feat of heroics, ran away screaming!
Another fun game against a fine coach who I have met in some unusual games recently. Also, with the only non BH injury apothed and the winnings being just enough for another reroll, we are in even finer shape for our next game ... if I can coach the Rats back off the ship!”
