This match started with a six turn riot , leaving Moyette's Revenge just two turns to make something happen. Dwarf runner Gotit's pass went incomplete, and the half came to a close.

Mikhail Tal gathered the second half kickoff for the Dead Chess Masters, and gathered blockers around himself. The hard hitting dwarves crushed the defensive line protecting Tal, and mummy Emmanuel Lasker was sent to the bench for re-taping. While Tal scrambled for his life, Mikhail Botvinnik streaked downfield to set up a chance. The Revenge shattered the remaining undead line, and Grimmish frenzy-blitzed Tal, knocking the ball loose. The ball bounced to zombie Seigbert Tarrasch, one of three undead players left standing in the line of scrimmage.

Tarrasch rumbled right with the ball, and hurled a pass at Botvinnik, completely unmarked and ready to score. Throwing and catching is really not the Chess Masters strength, and the pass landed incomplete, next to Botvinnik. Gromrat knocked Botvinnik off the ball, but failed to gather it in for himself, turnover!

Five additional Chess Masters advanced into the melee for the ball, and flattened most of the dwarves, and Botvinnik claimed the ball for himself. However, Botvinnik fell a single pace short of the goal, even after Going For It. A single dwarf, Gromrat again, was able to catch Botvinnik on the line - another was tripped, and the rest stayed at midfield to pound on the undead left there. Gromrat was surrounded, and Botvinnik knocked him flat. Those dwarves at midfield, confident that a goal was about to be scored, continued merrily pounding on zombies, waiting for their chance... but it never came. Gromrat was simply unable to put sufficient pressure on Botvinnik by himself, and Botvinnik scored on the final Chess Master play of the game, leaving no chance for Moyest's Revenge.

Moyest did indeed try for revenge, fouling undead players at the end of the game as vengeance for Botvinnik's "unsporting" behavior. No casualties were inflicted - and the obscenities hurled from the sideline failed to find their mark. One might question the defense put up by the dwarves, repeatedly blocking players well away from the play, and leaving a lone dwarf to struggle for the ball.

MVP - surely it should have been dwarf blitzer Gromrat, fearless in the face of impossible odds.
