“An early Blitz destroyed the game plan of the Orcs. Which game plan, you might ask. Certainly the Orcs didn’t had one after the Blitz.
Gothiqu’ne Mortika tried to impress from early minutes of the game. But she is still a bit green behind the ears. Her time will come.
The Orcs failed to reduce the Dark Elf numbers. So it was no surprise that Vanguard scored an unanswered try in half one.
Second half started well for Vanguard until Canis Lupus (c) broke away from his player and tackled Phantom Navigator deep in his own half. The team doctor was able to save the young thrower but no one was able to stop the Predator’s skipper run underneath the posts.
It looked like an easy try for the Dark Elves, but they decided to run down the clock. Instead f an 2+ Dodge the rookie Witch chose to take a one dies block to crowed push the Apocalyptic thrower. A vital mistake.
A hard fought draw in the Predator’s first Conference game vs one of the big teams in the SWL. It wasn’t a pretty game which could’ve easily a disaster for the Orcs.
Gold: Antarctic Apparition did useful blocks and was a pain in the ass with his St 4.
Silver: Black Ice set up the second “could’ve been” TD. Next time go all the way on your own)
Bronze: The Puppet Master (Scored the TD, but didn’t do much that game)
Nothing (but could’ve been everything): Verminacular Vendetta (Her rookie behaviour cost the Dark Elfs the game)
Btw: I see the Dark Elfs found their Guard. One goal down, one to go :o) ”
“Talk about nerves on your first game of Blood Bowl. Mortika opened up her career with a performance that a niggled old zombie could better.
We got that blitz straight up, but Im not sure that it destroyed any game plan the orcs must have had. I think they were just finding an excuse for not having a game plan, for Mortika's efforts gave us no advantage at all. We sent up a blitzer to assist her before sending her off to show us what she could do on her first crowdsurf. Straight up rolled four pows and failed the surf, then came back out and snake eyed her dodge and stunned herself! Alas, if only she could have improved on that!
By the end of the game, she'd managed just one out of six surfing opportunities, all pretty standard. And the last one lost us the game...Im not sure if we'd give her those same orders again. Maybe, with a dodge we would have had to defend for two turns, but even failing the surf there was a good chance we'd get the ball back. But Plat's orcs came out with a string of dodges, pows, stuns and casualties to take advantage of it just as they did for their first try after we made a critical oops. So that was that. Besides, we snakeyed our first roll of the last turn anyway, so maybe that ill fated surf was fated to be whatever we did ;)
All in all, it was a pretty shoddy game. Both coaches seem to be missing their mojo for whatever reason. But there's still a long season left in which to hassle the opponents.
And we now have a guarder! Though we're not getting excited yet. Our last one only lasted one game. Two goals to go ;) Still need a competant thrower and a witch elf that can do her job. Long season of building to go.

Too easy. We made the oops and failed our rerolled dodge. Then watched him dodge, rip the ball carrier, hold onto the ball in a blitz, then make another dodge for the try. He certainly should be embarrassed about behaving like an elf, though his team mates probably didn't even register the dodges when they heard the Navigator bones' crunch.

When you've got no guard and no big guy, a S4 thrower is obscene.

Got the orcs the draw with the final and biggest play of Mortika's game...the failed surf on the touchdown line in turn 15.
