“The match between the Dead Chess Masters and Vincero all' alba Vincero started as a nice constrast between tromping undead and flashy dancing elves. Botvinnik took the opening kickoff, and his blockers held off the Elven hoarde. A fine leap by wardancer L'Impavido Fottuto and blitz and tackle knocked the ball loose, and the elves scrambled to recover the fumble. Blackburne took the fumble upfield, and handed the ball to Morphy, whose scoring prowess is well-known. Once again, Fottuto struck, blasting the ball loose. Botvinnik again took up the ball. The elves had been taking losses during the drive, and this time they were unable to stop the Chess Masters. Efim Bogoljubov took the handoff in for a touchdown.
The elves came back on the next drive, slipping past the line and setting up in the Undead backfield. Catcher La Spunga took the ball down to the five pace line, but was swarmed and tackled by a blitzing Max Euwe, and Paul Morphy dove on the loose ball. At this point, something appeared to go wrong on the Elf sideline... Their coach! What is happening! Transformed into a duck! The Elves proved unable to continue the match, and the game was forfeited to the Undead Chess Masters.
A riot immediately began from the more unruly fans (as if there is any other kind), and both teams' fans were most unsatisfied by the result. Best of luck to my worthy opponent in recovering from his ailment.”
