“Game 1 of Season XVI and the Riders got off to a poor start. Fielding a bare 11, the game started with a blitz from the Duskriders kickoff which put them on the back foot, quickly followed by a casaulty to hammer home the advantage. After a couple of fouls by the Adepts the Riders finally had enough and uncharacteristically started to retaliate. Surprisingly by the end, they got the better of that particular battle. Sadly though, they continued their poor run of form in the dodging and sprinting department which saw them unable to prevent a TD from the blitz or able to score an equalizer in the first half.
In the second half the fouling and bashing continued unabated and for once the elves gave as good as they got. A failed catch by the bull let us recover the ball to give us a chance to reply. An impressive blitz by the troll, the only player in distance succeeded in jolting the ball lose but we still had the chance to recover it and possibly secure a draw but for an enormous blunder by the coach (misclicking an unrelated player into two tacklezones) spurned the chance and the bull managed to pick up the unrecovered ball and run it home. The Adepts, despite having fewer players on the field managed another score to rub it in, with only a consolation effort, half-heartedly contested, coming from the darkies on the buzzer.
A depressing game in retrospect. The early play went against the Duskriders but they had the chance to get back in the game and blew it.
Twahnlows
3 Points. Abhaya. Did most of the ball handling and kept it well out of our reach. If we ever threatened, he slipped away.
2 Points. Disciple Shariputra. Not often a troll plays such a pivotal role in a match, but when called on he stepped up and got possession back for his side when it looked like we might make a game of it.
1 Point. Tetsugyu Concentration. Scored the TD and did a lot of the blitzing, (unsurprisingly). Hardly missed a beat, the failed catch excepted, but made up for it with a clean pick up for the TD.
“The long offseason left the dwarf monks hungrym hungry for success.
Their first match of the season was against some sinister Dark Elves. The opening drive was typical Adepts taking no prisoners and marching donw the field with brutal efficiancy. The Elves gave as good as they got and both sides went int the locker room at half time with injuries, the Adepts however with the all important lead.
An aggressive opening defensive stance along with some early season messups by theEleves left the door open fo the the game sealing TD and from there it was a matter of keeping the dusk riders in check until the final whistle.
Twahnloes:
3pts: Twilight Deathmoth: His big hitting helped keep the match close for a while and the Adpets numerical advantage to a minimum
2pts: Duskwind Strongarm: Really tried hard to rally his team, but with little support
1pt: Darkblood Dreadwing: Kept trying till the end and was rewarded with a late TD
