Receiving the kick in the first half, the full back Peltocephalus Dumeriliana fumbled his pick up three times. Those darkly erotic Countesses were obviously trying to hypnotise him. By the time he finally got control of the ball, the planned flank attack had been thoroughly neutralised leaving him no choice but to try to break on the opposite flank. This deviation from the plan confused his teammates who failed to offer their support leaving him open for a blitz and steal maneuvre from Chastity Black who ran the ball home for the eventual winning touchdown.
Kicking off for the second half, Targzissians found themselves down to 7 players. This unsettled them even more with the kicker misjudging and gifting the Countesses a touchback. Early on Faith Marlow broke to the flank with the ball. She was rapidly caught by two skinks who managed to push her over and halt the attack. This drew a ruck of players from which Geochelone Carbonaria eventually emerged with the ball. Hoping to use his pace, he begin to sprint towards the halfway line. However, his nightmare was proved clairvoyant as a blitz came in from Lirit de Pompadour: Countess Lirit was knocked out as she fell upon the limp, lifeless, dead body of Geochelone. The ball fell to Rhinoclemmys Punctularia whose desperate dash to the line left him one square short. He took a deep breath and threw himself forward. He tripped over and dropped the ball into the crowd who tossed it safely back to fan favourite Thrall, Lirit Blanchard.
Targzissians had been denied the late draw at the final opportunity.
An amazingly close game which showed how effective the MA8, dodge and stunty combination can be. Thanks to the Dead Night Countesses for the ever pleasant comments throughout the match. If we're drawn together next season, I hope the game is every bit as fun.”
