This game proved the old saying, "It ain't over until it's over." Perhaps the coach xrobot will think about that in the future... =)

Admittedly, the Shufflers played their worst half in the first, giving the ball up time after time on D. Whereas the past defeat was due to our lack of patience, this defeat was more due to our being too patient. The ball would be left on the ground after a turn, only to have an expedient elf pick it up for a TD. The only credit I can give to the Shufflers was that they only gave up the ball 3 times, making the halftime score 0 -3.

Second half we turned up the defense, forced turnovers, and scored some TDs. Also important were the injuries. The elves were unable to counter the vicious attacks of the Shufflers, and near the end of the game they were fielding far less than 11. We went into turn 7 then with an advantage in players with the score 2-3

However, too many failed passes (3 mid range, 1 quick failed out of 5 total attempts) hurt the last minute drive to tie the game, and so the Elves ended up victorious.

Admittedly, I thought that it was over after the first half, as the Mutilation was leading by 3. However, the Shufflers turned up the heat and the Mutilation medical staff had their hands full with a sudden surge of casualties. Our star(and only) catcher #2 Gerfk had been one of the first players to be hauled off the field - badly hurt on turn 2. By the start of the second half, we could only put 6 players on the pitch.

It was a stressful time as we tried not to play so aggressively that we'd continue to lose players, but not so passively that we'd get walked over.

The Shufflers went on to simply dance around my pathetic excuse for a defense and scored twice in quick succession. An executive decision was made to secure victory at any cost and a desperate last-second blitz followed by a long bomb to get the ball as far away from the Shufflers as possible by #1 Phonics Monkey prevented a draw.

But alas, said victory came at great cost. If I could go back in time, perhaps I would have accepted a loss as my next game will be played minus two linemen. If the game had gone on any longer, Shufflers would have eradicated my team entirely.

Overall, it was apparent my linemen were merely a trifle to the Shufflers. I had to get the ball quickly out of my territory and into scoring range before the casualties started to skyrocket. Once I had been reduced to a half-team, the strategy simply became to survive until the game was over.

Extra stretchers, coffins and priests to administer last rites will be hired before my next encounter with the Shufflers.
