“Athletico Middenheim finally make something of themselves but it isn't without cost...
The first half starts well despite recieving a blitz as the dangerous looking beast KOs itself on a GFI and then the first block of the game results in a BH beastman. With numerical and speed superiority despite a misremembering of the rules for Foul Appearance (Never come across it before in over 10 years of playing) leading to a spilled ball AM roll down the pitch and take a mid first half lead. The Nurgleites struggle after a quick turnover allows AM to put pressure on the ball and eventually a failed GFI made a TD impossible.
At half time I remarked that the Rotters blocking had been rubbish and the Human dodging poor. In the second half the former changed significantly and the latter got worse...
A ball kicked just behind the line of scrimmage and a quick rotters turnover left the ball surrounded but AM players and in the hand of my S5 blitzer. Ok, I thought, my players are bunched up but all I have to do is break quicly and score and I won't take too much of a pounding. Then it went quickly pear shaped. My ball carrying blitzer failed the dodge and BH himself which I felt required the apothacary. Three injuries then quickly followed as did three KOs including the apothacaried blitzer. Appart from briefly recovering the ball and throwing into the Rotters half hoping for some greased ball Chaos action I then failed every dice and the rotters made all theirs for an easy score against my 4 remaining players. Sportingly the Rotters chose not to stall (I would have done in that position!). This left two turns to summon a winning TD. An unorthodox defensive setup and a touchback allowed me to run the ball up with the S5 blitzer and two support out of my 7 remaining players (One was helpfully stunned by the crowd who appeared to hate AM throughout). An apparent miscalculation allowed a fairly easy two dicer and GFI for the winner very much against the play of the half.
As they say - a game of two halves and a match I was very lucky (Not in the sense of dice - 48% grr!) to win. AM are winners of the Warseer Midleweight contest.”
