“Victorious Carnival.
In what proved to be an incredibly hard fought battle the elves were narrowly defeated in the end. Although the humans jumped the gun and followed up on their initial kickoff, this was to no avail and the elves turned the (mini) tide pounding the Carnival - early on poor Mario was pronounced dead on the field but the amazing Doc Thommy applied a poultice of wonders and he got up continued to play! The elves then marched up the field and scored a well worked TD.
The Carnival did have plenty of time left in the first half to make something happen, poor positional play on their part meant that with only a few more moves to be made they were all scrunched up with no place to go. The elves had kept on hammering them mercilessly - a dropped ball, a well placed player allowed a hard blitz that pushed Ignacio free. He then hobbled into the endzone in the dying seconds of the half.
Halftime prep talk was crisp apparently and all humans reported back on the field. A poor elven kick was handed over to the Carnival - Bruce the Strong then pronounced that : " I run with ball, I score TD, give me or I bite head!" So a running drive was setup. An inital success was achieved in removing the guarding elves and slow progress was made up the pitch. To make life worse for the Barricades both human catchers were playing deep up field just waiting for a pass. This did not daunt the haughty elves though and an incredible blitz sent Bruce tumbling this inadvertently opened the door though. The ball was scooped up by Ignacio - who was not going to stand around wondering what to do like Brucey had just done a turn or two ago - and a final rush play was setup. With only seconds remaining Der Burkhardt, Houdinov the Phantom and Heinrich the Elusive were all in a position to score. The manager, the fans everyone screamed handoff to Burkhardt but lofts Igancio knew better and passed the egg to him, to much relief Der Burkhardt held on and ran in the winning score.
