After a few hard games the Fossils turned the tide and the season. I what coach ArtaXerxes had seen as a potential playoff for relegation, the lizards came good with a 4-2 win. While coach Arta was full of praise for his 10 lizards holding out 12 Wood Elves, perhaps more credit goes to the fumbles of the elves on key plays (notably Jordell Swiftpass) in the first few turns. These fumbles allowed the Fossils to take the offense from defense, and having a 2-0 lead after kicking twice game the Fossils more hope than they dared dream of before the game.
After the unusual start, the game settled into a more regular pattern with the elves passing game bringing results, and steady running and caging from the Fossils maintaining the lead.
As for the big guys, they squared off all game and had little influence in general. The Fossils blocking coach is still on notice, after another game where the opponents were knocked over and even out, but without any real punch. Only new boy Vraal could break the AV7 with any force, putting a serious dent in Jordell Swiftpass' chest (perhaps that's what took his mide off the ball?).
3 votes: Danny Crane – played a complete game of blocking strength and rushing the ball. A man for all seasons
2votes: Felil de Roll – leaped and dodged all night, kept leaving the field to visit the crowd or recover from being KO'd, but was always back at the first opportunity.
1 vote: Jordell Swiftpass – a mixed game of telling success and despairing snake-eyes. Truth be told coach annachie asked much of Jordell and he always gave it his best.”
