“The game started with a blitz for Manchester's Finest, with Amir Khan leading the attack. This left the Saints with a difficult position with only 4 players free to move without any risk. The first few blocks were nothing special, with no armour breaks and two men down, although the Saurus Andrew cornered a prone Ben Jones onto the sideline. With a pick up the position was neither strong nor weak for either side, although the momentum was with the lizards. A double pow/skull left Paula Radcliffe reeling from a stunning blow from Adrian of Canterbury.
This favour was then repaid however, when Adrian of the Saints rolled skulls against Amir Khan, leaving an opening into putting pressure on the Saint's cage. Aebbe the Elder was pushed into the crowd by June Croft, and along with Ricky Hatton joined in with the pressure on the Saint's cage. The turn ended with a failed dodge, where Mike Atherton was knocked out for the count by a sneaky tail trip. The Saints surged down the pitch with the ball, only to be cut off by a critical blow dealt by Amir Khan, which left the ball grounded next to a player of both teams.
With some good play, the Saints picked up the ball again, only for it to be knocked from the grips of Aethelbert of East Anglia with a blow that also smashed Aethelbert's collar bone. The ball bounced to the middle of the pitch, with no players surrounding it, until Paula Radcliffe was punched off the ball by George, although the Saints couldn't capitilise after an unlucky drop. The ball was in a scrummage for the rest of the half, until with some luck, David Lloyd scored from a pass from Sir Stanley Matthews.
The Second half started very well for the Saints, with a successful defence leading to a touchdown for George after an incredible catch from the fumbled ball. The momentum remained with the Saints as they pressed home for another touchdown after a failed pass. The match ended up even as David Lloyd lobbed the ball down to Amir Khan who touched down for the Mancunians.
