"What is going to happen, Lord Amax?" asked Coach Oblitzamanger.
However, the blizzard was interferring with his abilitiy to contact the Old Ones, and for the Old Ones to help their blessed spawning. so he was unable to answer.
But the Dwarves did. Knocking down the entire front line, they set themselves up in good position to score. But the Sauri didn't give up as they assalted the ranks of Longbeards only to be swarmed and knocked down again. Finally, the Dwarf Runner burst through the side and sprinted free. But, the Dwarf coach decided to stall.
Angry and unfortunate, Coach Oblitzamanger threw his playbook down. However, he retained his resolve to stop the score and called an emergency play. Two Skinks got up from being smashed in their own backfield and blitzed the open Runner. Between the two of them, they tore him down, stunning him, and all hell broke loose. Oblitzamanger started calling random plays, upset by the madness of the game and his poor luck. A few plays ended in failure; others prevented the Dwarves from scoring. But in the end, the Dwarves just barely missed the endzone and the Lizardmen somehow kept the score even at halftime.
When the storm cleared in the second half, the Old Ones were able to help their blessed spawn. The team's luck only got better and better. Skink Gorrecteck got the ball on a hand off and was able to sprint downfield clearly with a well placed blitz from a Saurus. Within one turn to score, Coach oblitzamanger was delighted, declaring, "A tie is good enough for me!"
But Lord Amaz said otherwise. "It is not the will of the Old Ones for you to draw this match. You shal winn or there will be punishments upon you."
Properly warned, he decided to stall. The Sauri fought for good position and managed to stay on their feet. And the blessed spawnings were able to stall.
There were several attempts to break the stall however. The Runner tried to blitz the poor Skink, but since the team had gotten too tired in the first few turns, he too was too tired to watch out fo his shoelaces and tripped going for it to block the Skink. He badly hurt himself and the medics tried but failed to heal the bawling Dwarf. Maybe the embarrassment was too much to stay on the pitch.
A Trollslayer tried to get near the Skink to stop the stall, but he too fell on his shoelaces, and landed on his neck, breaking it. Everyone was sad to see the poor chap's neck broken, when it had been such a clean game...
After a safety foul, the Dwarves were no closer to stopping the stall. The Dwarf coach got so mad that he threw down his playbook in rage. However, he did not keep his resolve to try and stop it. The Dwarves were so confused that they literally stood still in panic as the Lizardmen took complete control of the game. Finally, after a SPP scoring casualty, the blessed spawing scored the winning touchdown.
Afterwards, Lord Amax told Oblitzamanger he had done a good job. He advised that a new Saurus be bought, and Oblitzamanger did so. More fans were attracted to the team, and the players were content with their performance as they prayed to their creators, the Old Ones.”
