“The Dogma stole this match at the last gasp, after an attritional battle they had the rougher end of.
The first drive, with the Dogs receiving, took the whole half - despite dislodging the ball twice, the Dogma couldn't get the ball safe, and unluckily conceded in the last turn after some brutal hittling by the Dogs.
The Dogma scored halfway through the 2nd half, despite an initial fumbled pick-up - the final opening coming when the Dogs failed a block before marking the endzone-bound Grothy Moss.
The crucial moment came a few turns later. A feature of strobbe's play was to always take all the two-dice blocks on offer before doing the key plays. This may be a valid tactic on a Block-heavy team, but it's asking for trouble with the Block-light Necros; having failed and rerolled an unimportant block, the ball-carrying Werewolf blitzed Grothy, 1 dice, and failed the block, the ball scattering straight into Grothy's hands.
He quickly advanced, handed it over to Werner Ulfsson, who sprinted for the endzone, with Olaf the Black providing some cover from the inevitable last-ditch blitz, which amazingly never came - instead of scrambling players back, the Dogs went on a block rampage, doing no real damage and relinquishing any last hope of drawing the game. Taking no chances, the Dogma decided not to risk the same mistake with unnecessary blocks, and Werner strolled in for the winning TD.
This is the first time the Dogma have scored two TDs, right after the first game in which they conceded two TDs.
The game did take over 2 hours to complete, all my fault of course. I'm sorry it took that long, but when the chips are down, I can't help but over-analyse each move.”
