“Scheduling the match for late afternoon left enough time for both teams to visit their respective pubs before kickoff time. Opting to receive, The Drunken Clam Regulars were able to score early on a long run by Heinrich Ziegler (no relation to Edmund Ziegler). Both sides were in their cups, which led to violent tempers all around. The ensuing shorthanded drive saw more violence, and the clock wound down on the first half before the Verena's Respite Inn side could punch the ball in for a score.
Both sides were shorthanded and bloody-minded in the second half, which saw a blitz by the Drunken Clam side lead to "Cannonball" Jung's first career touchdown. Verena's Respite Inn lined up to receive another kickoff, and looked to be in good shape at first. The absence of key personnel, however, seemed to stall out their offense. In the end, the Drunken Clam Regulars managed a 2-0 win despite a hamfisted effort in which most of the side's players were clearly quite drunk.”
