“The Fury get back to winning ways with a comfortable victory against a rookie Wood Elf team who were late replacements for absent Amazons. With two players out the line-ups were much closer than the TRs appeared with a few earned skills the main difference. The Fury handicaps amounted to little with 'Bad Press' being negated by the first kick of roll and 'Duh! Where am I?' only resulting in one failed bonehead roll.
Receiving the first kick off the Fury ball carrier was blitzed and lost the ball following some sloppy defending but the recovery was successful and a thin Wood Elf line was blitzed through, and with a bit of fortune, the Fury took the lead.
A 77's KO from a thrown rock set the tone of the next play with the Wood Elves suffering two consecutive first roll turnovers and a succession of KOs. The Fury swamped the hapless ball carrier and mugged him. The only complication was an excellent dodge into a stalling cage but luck again deserted the 77's for the block. With two chances to recover the 3 KOed players the Wood Elves managed to fail all attempts to get the players out of their comfy chairs.
The Kick off for the second half looked to be a repeat of the second Fury TD with the 77's again suffering early turnovers. This time however the Fury's luck also plummeted and the 77's scored an excellent long completion to pull a TD back.
With only one KO player making it back for the 77's the Fury were confident but a 77's 'Blitz' took the smiles off their faces. Despite this early scare the 77's dice this time completely deserted them and with an equal mixture of Fury blocking and 77's appalling dodging the 77's were reduced to three elves on the pitch by the time the Fury walked in their third TD.
With Injury time raising the possibility of a consolation the remaining 77's forged ahead but another failed opening dodge again hit the 77's and the game petered out.
The post game events were a mixed bag for the Fury - poor winnings but an increase in fanbase, four skill rolls but no doubles or stat increases. The 77's may have lost but cannot be to disappointed with the winnings and no damage for the next game.
This game was not really a contest - not because of any disparity between the teams or coaches but because of the dice. The Fury suffered nothing worse than a stun whilst most of the 77's visited the dugout and suffered approximately 6 first dice turnovers in the game. Hopefully for them their luck will balance out over their remaining games.”
