The Fossils welcomed the Stingers back to the Conferences (after their time in Premier and a season parked) with a bang. Both of the Stinger's niggled stars turned up, but after that the luck pretty much dried up for them. The Fossils have been looking forward to this return match (3rd between these teams) to break the 2 draws record. And break it they did :-)
The weather was perfect but the elves couldn't take a trick with the ball. The first turn went well for the elves in dodging through and leaping over the Fossils wall. But when in turn 2 the throw from Gabriel went wide, the tide turned. Balldrinker II swooped on the loose ball but stunned himself on a GFI. Jaden couldn't pick up the ball, allowing Ballspinner to pick it up and rush to the ever willing Balljuggler who strolled in for the first touchdown.
Second kick-off and Gabriel collected a rock thrown from the Fossil's crowd. He went down, and so did the Stingers chances of a quick reply. Stryder caught the kick and retreated deep, however next turn Theseus failed to catch the throw in mid field, and the Fossils recovered the ball eventually (even Balljuggler failed to pick it up initially), and with dwindling elves on the pitch could afford the luxury of selecting Ballnasher to score the touchdown. 2-0 at half time.
The second half started with the Fossils receiving for the first time. Balljuggler still hasn't mastered the throwing idea yet, but the Stingers were in no position to take advantage of his fumble. Eventually the Fossils ran the ball forward into a loose cage, only to have the Stinger play of the game occur – Naphtali leaping into the cage, knocking Balldrinker II over, collecting the bouncing ball and running for his life. Of course he was knocked over and the Fossils recovered the ball. But Naphtali wasn't done yet. Another leaping blitz to KO the ball carrier (poor Balldrinker II again). Eventually Naphtali was stunned and the Fossils could gather the ball allowing Ballspinner to run in their third.
The fourth Fossil touchdown (to Ballspinner) was build on the back of a failed leap where Jaden KO'd himself, and Gabriel failing yet another throw. The heart of the Stingers was appeared well and truly broken.
Tough game Shatterstar to welcome you back to the Conferences. I dunno how you manage to arrange such low luck.
Twahnlows:
3 votes – Naphtali Wildelf – for his quality 2 blitzes in the second half. The only real class shown by the elves this game.
2 votes – no-one really stands out here, but perhaps Skirmish Gladerunner was probably “best of the rest”
1 vote - Gabriel Riverwynde because of the MVP, nothing else ”
