Last game of the season... my drunkards were all partied out. Early CAS & KOs limited our forces. A RIP on ST 4 AG 5 Block elf forced my apoth early on.
My rolling was atrocious this game. Most turns I had a 1 or some skulls waiting for me at the beginning.
I did the best with what I had. I was looking to secure the win on my Turn 16 with some elf magic when Bampf rolled the dice no less than 8 times and RRd his only failure for the win. It was a page out of the elven playbook.
“Final week of the Whiskey League s second season.
I had to face hark s mega-stud elves knowing I needed a victory to make a run at the Whiskey Bowl playoffs.
Things started poorly. The Whiners received and I was helpless to contain his 2 AG5 ST4 players and Blodgers. 1-0.
Our drive was much better, though it ended in disaster. A fiver slipped to the ref insured a penalty free half, so the Minions (normaly reluctant to foul) threw in some timely boots. Hark got some nice shots on the ball, but I was able to do some real damage and recover each time. With a nice play set-up for a Turn 7 breakaway, a mino misclick ended my turn immediately and forced me to try a crazy dodge and pass play with plenty of GFIs on turn 8... and of course it failed.
3 of 4 elf KOs returned and my man advantage wasn t looking so good knowing I needed a win and not a tie. I somehow recovered from a turn 1 ball pickup flub (thanks to equally crappy hark dice) and pushed downfield as hurriedly as I could. Hark hindered me all the way and I had to settle for a score with a clean break-away on turn 5.
With three turns and a needed defensive score, I lined up close to the line and pressured hark s passer as best I could. Forcing a crazy escape play that very nearly succeeded. Instead the ball ended on the turf in one elf TZ. A quick scoop and some timely ball handling and I had a chaos warrior rumbling for a break-away score... until he tripped on a GFI (with RR).
Two elves swarmed the ball, forcing me to make a pick-up, short pass and 3 GFI for the go ahead score... with the help of a RR (needed on the pass) I pulled it off. Whew.
Great tight game. Hark s high pressure defense and very nicely developed players kept me on my toes the whole game. Well played...
We may be seeing each other again shortly in the playoffs. ”
